Assignment 2: BART: The Problem Solver

Length: 2 pages, double-spaced (Times Roman 12 font with standard 1” margins)

Due: 05/21/2016

You will write a two page academic paper analyzing an organization that they are currently

working for or have worked for in the past. You may also use a family problem to which you

would like to apply the BART principles. This assignment will offer the opportunity for you to

analyze using course material and write about ways to improve a situation with the clarity that

applying BART can bring.

The purpose of this paper is to apply BART to a specific problem you have encountered when

working in a group and to apply BART as an attempt to help keep this problem from occurring in

the future. Think about a recurring or difficult problem that you have faced in an organization or

in a system that you have participated in. Think about this problem deeply and without blaming

others. (The problem you address may be your issues with authority, or with completion of

projects on time, or issues with those who report to you, or an inability to find a mentor or a host

of other issues).

Using Adaptive and Innovative leadership skills (from text) develop a three to five step plan to

solve the problem using BART. You must be specific. Cite the text and APA is required for all

papers.

This paper will address the following questions:

 What is the specific problem that is being addressed?

 How does this specific problem effect the entire organization?

 How would clarity around BART create a better process for getting work accomplished in the organization?

 How would BART be applied?

 What is the three to five step plan that is being offered?

 Does the BART solution offered use adaptive and innovative leadership skills (from the text and discussions)

Introduction (10%)

 Is there a clear “Purpose Statement”?

 Does the introduction explain what the paper is about – the main points of analysis?

 Does it give a quick overview of the three to five points of analysis? Analysis (60%)

 Does the paper have three to five main points of analyzing how the organization did or did not evolve as explained in the text on how the chosen organization did or did

not follow the theories presented?

 Does each of the main points have a citation back to the text with a page number and a direct (short – 3 to 5 words) quote?

Conclusion (10%)

 Is the conclusion a clear and concise recap of the analysis?

 The conclusion cannot bring in any new ideas!

 Does the conclusion tie into the first two or three sentences in thought? Process, Punctuation and Grammar (20%)

 Are all of the words spelled correctly?

 Are the correct words used?

 Is the wording smooth to read?

 Is proper grammar used?

 Does the paper follow APA Guidelines?
