Time: 9:45 AM
Location: Bank of America
Experience: Negative
Lessons: Poor people service, poorer time management
Situation: As I stood there in the middle of the banking hall I wondered how long I would have to wait to see the manager. I had woken up very early that day to come and get a refund for overpayment to my savings account. I initially thought that it was an easy process but the teller on counter 2 told me that the kind of account that I had only accepted deposits and not withdrawals and that was the much that she could assist, she then referred me to the bank manager for further assistance. Standing here I could not help but notice just how there were so many people in the banking hall and each person seem to be stranded in one way or the other; fortunately, there was a friendly just by the main door who took it upon herself to assist all and sundry who asked around for help.
The main reason why I had got an account with this bank was because it had lower interest rates than most banks and this proved convenient for me since I was still a student and solely relied on my parents for financial support. Earlier that year I felt the need to open up a savings account to facilitate me after college and I had put a standing order to enable me to withdraw money from this account after 13 months. I, unfortunately, deposited all the money that I had received from my father including part of my tuition fee that now left me a little bit stranded as there was nowhere else to get more money for my tuition fee.
Further looking around I saw little digital machines that called out the next client on each teller desk but that seem not to work properly as most of the clients just picked whoever they saw was free and cold attend to them. This caused congestion and confusion since most clients went to the wrong counter for help.
It felt like ages when I was finally called in to see the manager who by the way must have reported to work late since I was the second client of the day and here I was consulting the manager decades later when a good number of clients had already been served and left.
As I walked into his office he mumbled a greeting and did not as much as look at me. He never offered me a sit and I had to sort myself out, courtesy not observed I took the seat right in front of him. While he sat there scrolling through piles of paper in front of him I just wondered why he had asked to see me when he was clearly still busy with other things. And so I sat there for another 15 minutes before I could let him know my reason for being in the office. When I finally had his attention and stated my problem he curtly told me to fill in a form to transfer my money into wherever I wanted it to go and I would receive it immediately he had signed it.
I walked out of that bank mad and highly disappointed for that poor service and vowed to remove all my money from that bank, it would have been better if I walked around with all my money.
