Business Ethics

1. Acme Corporation faces a potential risk of receiving bad publicity due to encouragement and support of immoral activities from its clients to please them. Acme Corporation has shown it is willing to go any mile necessary and anything that makes their clients happy even if it is not right. This can be illustrated when Otis Hillman suggested that he wanted to go to an ‘adult entertainment’ club and Amber seems to be okay with it. Therefore this shows that Acme is willing to compromise their moral principles and ethical beliefs just to make their clients happy.

Corruption can be highly illustrated when Acme Corporation gives all their clients $500 each. This is clearly unethical because instead of marketing their product fairly to the clients, the Acme Corporation is buying loyalty from their clients and gaining an unfair advantage over its competitors in the market. This can backfire for them on legal and social grounds because corruption is considered unethical and immoral.

2. In order for Acme Corporation to make ethics as part of their core values, they should change their management. Amber who is Frank’s boss seems to agree with all the unethical activities to make their best clients happy even at the expense of Acmes Corporation reputation. A new management with a different perspective is needed in order to have change and promote integrity in the company.

3. Frank needs to be aware of mixing pleasure with business. Frank seems to talk to Otis Hillman on business activities and then later ‘buying him off ‘with his presents. He offers Thermocare a pair of tickets and then later pays for Otis Hillman and his wife a trip to Cancun in order to convince him to increase his stock.

Frank is driven by the ambition and greed of a large commission and bonuses. This is shown that every time he makes a big sale or an improved contract with the client he is given bonus check and a letter of achievement from the Vice President of Marketing. This shows that no matter how he does, things don’t matter so long as things get done.

4. Frank should stick to the basic rules of negotiating and convincing the client. This is by stop spending lavish with the customer and concentrate on explaining the basic quality of their products. They will portray the product in general of having a good image and even attract more customers in the market. This is a strategy that will serve the Acme Corporation in the long run since the market as we are told is competitive.

Frank basic art in gaining clients is corruption. This is a negative aspect and it may taint his reputation as a professional sales person. Enhancing in ethical and moral ways may help him in acquiring better skills for the future as a sales person. Since he represents the company the image that he portrays is seen as that of the company and his decisions reflects that of the company.
