From the Gold Watch exercise, it is opened my eyes to something really important for any manager about the thinking about each problem. When I set with my groups I noticed that everyone is looking at the problem from a different aspect. One think that Ash is guilty while other one think that his boss Charles was totally wrong, he shouldn’t fire Ash immediately but he must give him the opportunity because also Ash is a new employee and he doesn’t have enough experience. Managers should look at any problem from different sides to analyze and try to solve any problem and the last solution is the fire. On the other hand, other classmate point view that Mr. Gary, the bank manager the first ranking list because he shouldn’t give Ash the loan.
I found some concept that it is reflected my past work experience on retailer company, Southwest airlines always treat their employees as a family which reflects directly on their relationship with the customers. Loyalty customers come from their great experience about something and treatment is truly very important key. The company may share power with their employee in order to give them enough confident to solve work problems.
Lecture two focus on understanding individual differences, which is informative material. In the workplace, each employee has a different personality and any manager should keep in his/her mind that term. Some people are organized and other talkative, the good manager take advantage of differences and distribute the function based on the employee based on their strength in the personality. An employee who is talkative may be the best one to represent the company in some event.
