Cocktail Activity
Instructions
Use all the information that you have picked up about specific gravity and information from other sources to make a layered “cocktail”. The “cocktail” should be in a regular pint glass, and the volume of the pint should be no more than 20 oz. You can use other types of glasses if need be, but the glass you use must be clear and no more than 20 oz. You must actually make the cocktail. A drawing will not suffice. You are free to use whatever liquids you wish to form the layers. You don’t have to use alcoholic drinks! Also, the liquids do not have to be potable by humans. You also need to keep the following points in mind:
1) You need at least 5 layers in your “cocktail”.
2) The layers should be easy to differentiate from each other. If possible, the color of the layers must contrast as much as possible.
3) Foams are not okay to use. Do not use foams (i.e. shaving cream, whipped cream, etc.)
4) More layers = a bigger tip. In terms of this class, any distinct layers over 5 are worth 1 bonus point on this assignment. You can exceed the maximum points.
Take a photo of your “cocktail” in its pint glass. In the photo, make sure to include a note with the following:
1) Your full name
2) You need the liquids that make up the layers of your “cocktail”. Please list the layer liquids from top to bottom.
3) You need the specific gravity of the layers that you used. You can find specific gravities of substances with a bit of Internet research. Keep in mind that specific gravity is the same number as density
When you are done, save your document and submit it to the correct folder in the Carmen class site dropbox.
