Component #1: Brake pads can fail in 2 ways. The glue can separate on the pad and the tread can wear thin. The glue failure can corrode the metal beneath the pads.
The tread wear can effect the ergonomic space between the foot and the top of the brake box. The brake pad failure may occur once in 5 years.
This could result in losses exceeding $200,000. Warning light comes on if metal pads become damaged. Pilot may notice if dimensions of box change.

Component #2: Hydraulics can fail in 3 ways. There can be a leak in the cylinder; the wing nuts can fail; the oil can separate. The leak could cause the braking to be harder
than normal. The wing nuts could cause the brake to slip. The oil separation could cause the brakes to be less effective. Hydraulics failure may occur at least
once per year. This could result in losses exceeding $1 million. Warning light and siren sound if there is cylinder leak. No detection method exists
for the wing nut failure. There is no detection method for oil separation.
