Assignment: Explore Crowded Asian Cities

1. Use the attached Asia_Cities_Video_Links_Now.xls spreadsheet. If you are unable to open it, you may use the attached Asia_Cities_Video_Links_Now.pdf instead.

2. Each city lists web links that open to youtube tourism-related videos.

3. Click on a youtube video. The quality is automatically set to the lowest setting. You may change it to display a sharper image, but download times will be longer. Many videos have HD (high definition) options.

4. Choose any assortment of videos to watch to total 50 minutes of video length time.

(The length of each video is shown in Column B as a guide. You may choose more than one video per city if you like. You don't have to choose every city on the list. But, the total number of videos you do choose must add up to 50 minutes of video length time. You don't need to watch every link. That adds up to 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 46 seconds of video length time. If you are confused about calculating how many videos you need to watch, please ask me).

5. Describe the scene displayed in each video you chose. Summarize the video explaining its purpose. That is, what message is the video trying to convey? Possible questions you can answer: What is happening? Is it a crowded place or an isolated place? How are the people acting? If the video is just an ad for a city, what is the main tourist site it is trying to promote?

6. Provide your impressions of each video you chose. Possible questions you can answer: What did you like most of each video? What did you like the least? Is anything there you are curious about and would love to visit? Did anything disturb you as unusual, strange, or something you wanted to avoid? How well was the video presented?

7. Once you finish answering about all of your videos, in just a few sentences, provide an overall summary of the entire assignment. What did all of the videos you chose have in common? Certainly they were all Asian cities but, was there a common theme, setting, or pattern among them?

8. In just a few sentences, describe your overall impression of those cities. Or, which city did you like most and why? Which city did you like least and why?

If you have any further questions about this assignment just ask.
