Chapter 4 – Planning and Strategic Management

1. Find out as much as you can about the mission, vision, values, and major goals of the organization. Do you think the firm is living up to these? What evidence do you have to support your conclusion?

Zip Cleaners is proud to offer Central Texas a variety of specialized programs customized to satisfy the needs of individual businesses. Our specialized programs are designed to help your business control and protect your image. Our services include uniform and protective apparel rental and purchase; logo mats, mops, microfiber products, towels, aprons, and restroom products. From small retail shops needing minimal service every other week to large automotive companies with 500 people needing daily uniform service, Zip Cleaners can design a service that’s right for you. The vision is to get everyone in Zip Cleaners uniforms and get the product out to the public.

I firmly believe the firm is living up to these. Zip Cleaners service mostly everyone in central Texas just to be a locally owned company in Killeen. The evidence is from one of the current employers who have been with the company for years and white pages results from the public’s opinion about the company.

2. What is the business-level strategy of this firm? (For a multi-business firm, focus on the largest business unit). In your opinion, does this strategy create additional value, boosting the profitability of the enterprise, or is it destroying value and lowering profitability? Why or why not?

Satisfying customers is the foundation of successful business strategies for the cleaners. The company finds ways to keep cost lower and to be different which brings uniqueness. I believe it is boasting the company’s profits and values. Zip cleaners offer a wide variety of products for different career paths/job. The company is green which is profitable in my eyes. From our foundation date of May 1, 1967, ZIP Cleaners has been committed to operating an environmentally responsible company and our commitment has remained unchanged. ZIP Cleaners prides itself on using high efficiency equipment that meets energy saving standards. We understand the value in operating in a manner that is not stressful on our environment. We stay conscious of the effects we have on our environment.
