Instructions: Psychology has had a problematic relationship regarding its status and recognition as a "Science", and part of the problem has to do with how we perceive and value what is scientific (and what is not scientific). In this sense, the problem goes beyond affirming that Psychology is (or isn't ) a Science. Taking this into consideration elaborate an argument that discusses one (1) of the following:

A) Discuss the debate regarding concept of "paradigm" and its relationship to Psychology (as a discipline and form of knowledge), taking into consideration how this influences how we view Psychology as a Science (and what kind or type of science).

B) Discuss some of the proposals regarding Psychology's status as a science and its problems regarding methodology and epistemology.

Bear in mind the following when elaborating your essay: 1.

If you pick "A" take into consideration Kuhn's contribution and conceptualization regarding the concept of paradigm and revolution. Elaborate how some have applied Kuhn's concept of paradigm to Psychology, questioning how it (if it) applies, and if such a thing as a unitary paradigm or even a paradigm shift or revolution has happened in Psychology. Take for instance the discussion elaborated in the texts of Hergenhahn & Henley (2014) Leahey (1992) and Tracy, Robins and Gosling (2003). 2. If you pick "B" take into consideration the problems regarding the crisis and dualist division in Psychology which affects how it defines and approaches its object of study. If many of the problems discussed here are related to those in "A", here we have proposals for dealing with, in one way or another, unifying, defining and locating Psychology's role, objects and conceptualization. Take for instance the discussion elaborated in the texts of Skinner (1977), Delefosse (2012) and Sternberg & Grigorenko (2001). 3. You could also integrate other texts than the ones suggested for "A" and "B" as long as they are texts assigned for UNIT. 4. You have to make use of at least three (2) of the assigned texts
