Introduction

According to the American Institute of Stress, stress is an unpredicted reaction of the body to a response to any stimulus (Selye, 1936). Stress is an important subject for psychologists due to its immense effect on the brain as well as body. Stressed people have reported the symptoms of tiredness, sickness and being non-concerned about the daily matters of their life. Taking stressors into account on a daily basis Leads to these reported symptoms, behavioral psychologists investigate the impact of stress over the mood as well as the health. The results of the above-mentioned research were significant and there was a clear impact of stress over the health and mood of subjects (DeLongis, 1988). In my own life stress is plays a positive role and negative role at the very same time. If I am concerned about an important event due to stress, I would be doing it on time at least, but on the other hand I may be less concentrated over the quality. This becomes a tug of war when I have to choose that whether stress has a positive or negative impact on myself.

In a research of evaluating peoples behavior towards stress and prediction analysis about who will suffer from stress. The researchers performed experiment over the subjects during their examination. The subjects with less variable heart rates before examination were reported to be the most stressful at the end of examination while others were more relaxed (Gouin, 2014, pg: 416). So in this case, stress management would remain in a constant condition of thought so that you would remain confident and comfortable around your environment when you have to be in a certain predicament.

In another study, decision making powers of a subject under stress was revealed in good decisions were usually made quickly and under stressed conditions the general perception is opposite to the findings of research (M. Mather, 2012, pg: 36). The experiment just used a simple technique of observing people under stress and analyzed the decisions they made.

After reviewing both experiments, it is easy to say that people under stress are persuaded towards beneficial results, but if things go wrong from their, it would be of large risk for them. Both of the studies used the same psychological principle of studying their subjects under stress and documenting their behavior as the empirical findings of their research.

Both of these studies relate to my personal career interest as I am going to pursue my degree in Business so these studies are actually directly related to the subject of my interest in understanding human behavioral traits from a stress perspective.

Personal Stress Experience

For years there have been up to three motives that help me deal with stress. These are to be put into health conditions throughout my life, to be wealthy enough to start a real estate business and to be a successful shareholder in a start up company. The ideal conditions to achieve these goals would be to remain active every day, incorporate less stress with respect to my personal goals, and keeping a check over my financials, I would obtain my goals in a quick manner.

After taking Holmes and Rahes self-assessment test, I have come to the conclusion that a current conditions in my life matter, either personal or professional, I am on a stress level with a 50 percent chance of getting ill anytime in the near future. This reflects that I am going on my ideal conditions towards achieving my goals but rather it is an entirely opposite state and it has surprised me to some extent because I am trying to better myself at achieving my goals.

Now I am aware of my current state and I have got a new perspective from the results of the Holmes and Rahes self-assessment test, I would make necessary changes in my current lifestyle so that I would achieve the right path for achieving my goals with the least possible time.

Analysis

Relating my current stress condition to the research findings of the two cases I have discussed above, it is wise to consider this much stress level to be positive and in a way that I am still highly goal oriented and I am on the right path to achieving my goals. With this much stress, it would keep me close to my goals and would not allow me to relax and I wouldn’t put my goals at risk (M. Mather, 2012, pg: 36). While according to the findings of the other research and my current condition of stress, it would be wise for me to keep track of my progress, as it will not create a doubt about the path that I am following to achieve these goals. Changing thoughts would be full of risk under stress conditions (Gouin, 2014, pg: 416) and my faith on the current path would lead me towards my goals in an optimized way.

This amalgam of both the research findings, reflects that I should keep on working hard towards the same path as I am and I should not be afraid of this much stress level, as it is normal for a person to create symptoms of focused, fruitful and competitive.

The literature has shown a few easy ways to manage stress in my current condition. I can easily achieve my goals and be successful if I do not get worried about how high of a level, but at the very same time keeping up my mood and health because if I am not careful to lower my stress, I would be fearful of losing my track towards my goals and it would not be a favorable scenario for me (Lazarus, 1984).

Action Planning

According to the DAPPS technique of goal setting. My first goal would be divided into sub goals as my first goal would achieved I would be over the age of 50, It is achievable, It is also my personal benefit to be fit and healthy so that I would live strong and happy after retirement life. I plan to be healthy will nourish my relation with everyone. I would be measuring my health level every day by my physiological and psychological conditions.

Similarly, my second goal would be divided into DAPPS as that it would be achieved when I would be in my last 10 years of my professional career. I will achieve this if I pay attention towards the goal. It would be lucrative for me because it would not only help me in living a wealthy life but it would help future generations to be less stressful about their employment as well. I will acquire a vast amount of properties. This measurement is very easy, in helping me reduce financial stressors that I would enjoy my retirement.

Last but not least, my third goal in DAPPS format can be visualized as achievable by my first ten years of my professional career. It is achievable as I have an interest in the stock market and it would be beneficial for me to invest my saving from my own hands under my owned companies rather than investing in someone else’s company. My existence in the stock market would help establish a name.

I can cope with stress at my work because:

1. My goal of being a real estate guru is achievable if I pay attention and study the market. In DAPPS format it can be represented that I would analyze market trends and buy low and sell high for a profit. This will be achievable and lucrative for me as well. I am aware of the fact that real estate is a real business and it’s all a risk in nature and its quantitative nature would help me specifying my performance.

2. It is my personal benefit to be fit and health so that I will live a happy life, after retirement. I would achieve it in every moment of my life, but its effect on me would really be valuable after my retirement life. I will remain optimistic in my choices as I progress towards an older age. Making myself active everyday to prevent diseases and certain illnesses.

3. My presence in the stock market would make most of my financial gains. This will be achievable when I save for investments and also make it doable with a little or greater investment that has a positive impact. From this point of view, I can easily relate my progress for this sub goal by checking how many successful stocks, I have bought and sold.

By achieving each of these sub goals, my life would be at ease of stress and I would know that I have something for every part of my life. Either its early career life, mid-career life or after career life, it would be a big relief to achieve all of these sub goals and achievements of each sub goal to allow as little of stress as possible into my life.

Conclusion

Learning stress management techniques is an important aspect of being a successful person and even more important when you have high goals to achieve. I would be focused, effective and on the right track towards my goals at every moment of life as I have learned to manage my stress. According to the research findings of Gouin and Mather my stress management tool would be effective because it is really based on the suggested action steps on their studies.
