Employers’ requirements from new candidates
Preparing for a job interview is considered a time consuming activity as well as nerve-wracking experience. Various individuals spend ridiculous energy as they attempt to prepare as well as memorize for every imaginable interview question. However, I attended the Spring Career Fair meeting in the Pond Student Union Ballroom in Pocatello and learnt that the manner in which candidates prepare for recruitment is different when it comes to the part of employers. There were several companies in the gathering and each offered its own way of recruitment. I learnt that each company has its own way of recruiting employees. Each company has different requirements for candidates.
For instance, when looking at the requirements provided by the Riverbend Communications Company, during their recruitment process, what they need most from candidates is technical competency. The representative of the organization in this meeting supported this requirement by arguing that most positions require specific skills that are advertised on the job posting. If a candidate is hired to take a given task, therefore, he or she should possess the required skills for that task. The organization also expects an individual to improve on the skills as they progress.
The Farm Bureau Mutual Ins. Representative said that flexibility, work ethic, determination and persistence are some of the qualities they expect from a candidate. The added information on this was that the candidates are required to react quickly to changing business conditions. They require their new employees to have the ability of changing gears and adapt to the environment as quickly as possible. Ensign Group is another company that got my attention at the meeting. Their requirements for recruitment are that a candidate should show loyalty, ability to work in groups and have problem-solving skills.
From the meeting, I concluded that all companies, despite having different ways of recruiting new employees, they are also looking for people who are motivated to take on challenges with minimal direction. These individuals should see when something is in need of correction and react accordingly to it.
