FORMAL PAPER AND PRESENTATION

You will be required to prepare a formal paper, 5-10 pages under the same guidelines mentioned above. The subject is a current, controversial one of your choosing. You will be required to prepare an outline and choose a subject by the second workshop. We will discuss this in the first workshop. All I ask for is that it be controversial. The paper is the basis for your final oral presentation to the class in the last two workshops. Because of the number of people in the class, the time limits for the oral presentation may vary but plan on 10-15 minutes. You may use the same methods of presentation set out above. The paper is due at the beginning of the fifth workshop but depending on the size of the class, some oral presentations may be on the fourth workshop as well. The paper will still be due on the last workshop. Please do not be late in turning in your final paper. You should cover all sides of the controversy, make a recommendation as to your position and be prepared to defend it.
