ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES A) Requirements • All reports must be an original piece of work. They must have a cover page, table of contents,
appendices and be correctly referenced. Students are not required to ring-bind their reports. • All pages must be numbered consecutively and all appendices referenced in the main report. The
report must be type-written on A4-sized paper using suggested font-size-12 with proper sectioning and paragraphing.
• Marks will be awarded for - Logical and coherent thinking depicted in the solutions. - Proper referencing and creativity.
• Referencing involves acknowledging original sources of information when producing written work. By referencing correctly, students not only add credence to arguments or statements made, but also avoid plagiarism.
• For documents submitted via Turnitin, please check with your lecturer on software versions and compatibility.
• For documents saved in a CD, or any secondary storage media, please check with your lecturer on software versions and compatibility. All such submissions must be virus free. Submitted media containing a virus, or which cannot be run directly will result in a FAIL grade being awarded.
B) Backup • All assignments submitted will not be returned to students. • Please ensure that duplicates are kept. Students are responsible for their own work and must perform
the necessary backups. C) Plagiarism
• Plagiarism occurs when you claim ownership of written words or ideas which are not your own.
Students must use their own words and structure. Views and information obtained from books, journals, magazines, URLs, etc. must be appropriately referenced.
• Bulk copying of information or/and sentences from textbooks are also not acceptable. This is not allowed even if the source of information is referenced. Plagiarism relates to students copying or basing their written work on that of others. Any piece of work submitted for assessment must be of one’s own original work.
• Where it has been established that a candidate has engaged in plagiarism, the examiner may deem that the candidate has FAILED all or part of the assessment concerned.
D) Report Submission Deadline
• Students MUST submit the assignment by the stated deadlines. • Please note that students must submit all coursework by the stated due date (s). Coursework
submitted within 3 calendar days after the due date will be capped at the pass mark. No coursework will be accepted for marking after 3 calendar days from the due date. Should exceptional circumstances arise, students must complete the Personal Extenuating Circumstances (PEC) form and submit to the lecturer of the affected module. The decision to approve or not to approve an extension rests with the Dean or Head of Schools or Departments.
E) Deliverables • The filled and signed assignment cover page (page 1) must be submitted together with your report. • Where necessary, include a CD, and submit the softcopy via Turnitin with the relevant and required
files.

INTRODUCTION YummyFood was established in year 1990 at Bukit Timah. The restaurant serves different types of western food. The company has expanded to three more locations at ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands and Holland Village since 2005. The company plans to expand their business further by introducing more categories of food in more locations. TASK LIST This assignment consists of two tasks which require you to make use of two basic Microsoft Office applications (MS-Word and MS-PowerPoint) in the preparation of reports, data presentation and presentation slides. Task 1: Word-processing The management of YummyFood would like to open two more branches at suitable heartland areas that can attract good crowds. Hence, they have assigned you to prepare a detailed proposal report on the two new locations where two new food menus for each location are to be included. Your report should convince the management that the opening of two new restaurant outlets and two new food menus for each location could bring better profits to the company and increase customer numbers and their loyalty. In the proposal report, you could highlight the following as a basic guideline: • Possible locations for the two restaurant outlets. • Elaborate reasons/factors for those suggested locations. • Recommend two new food menus for each restaurant location. • Estimated expenses and profits that could be derived for each location. You are required to use your creative imagination to write a report that meets the above minimal requirements. This report should be complete with proper write-ups, tables or charts, suitable graphics and interesting layouts incorporating the various features of the Microsoft Word software. The report should have 6 to 8 pages with relevant page headers and footers. Appropriate page numbering and a table of contents page must also be included. Print your report using an A4-sized format and 1” margins. Task 2 : Presentation Slides The management has requested that a short presentation to be done in addition to the report prepared in Task 2 above. You are required to prepare presentation slides using Microsoft PowerPoint. Use the information in the report generated in Task 2 to produce a slide show of not more than 10 slides complete with transition and animation effects. Print your presentation as handouts in three (3) slides-per-page format.

Referencing You are required to include a list of references used in preparing the assignment. The Harvard referencing system should be used. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT 1) A printed hardcopy for all the tasks.
A CD and submit the softcopy via Turnitin with the relevant and required files.
2) CD containing the following: Task 1: Word documents (.doc or .docx) Task 2: Presentation files (.ppt or .pptx) Please ensure that your media is virus free.
