The pvalue is the probability of getting a value of the TS that is at least as extreme as the one representing the sample data.The pvalue is the area in the tail from the TS "out".

Ex: Typically 15% of all calculators have defective on/off buttons. (This is not the case but I am stating this for this made up problem.) A new batch of 40 calculators is delivered to the Math & Computer Science department and we notice that 7 of the forty have defective on/off buttons. Is the new batch significantly different than the typical calculators at a 0.05 significance level?
