Individual write up 15%, (due April 10th)

This will be your opportunity to bring together the readings on social movement theory with the learning from the organizing exercise, current events, oral history and the two organizing stories you read.

This should be 8 pages double spaced that answer one of the following questions about social movement strategy around an issue that you care about. This may be the campaign that you’re working on in class or another campaign. You must cite at least four concepts effectively with their authors and use the course readings and if useful, additional research.

Choose a campaign you are interested in. What needs to change (ex. social structure, political, economic institutions, cultural norms, organizational capacity, alliances, strategy) before this campaign can succeed? How do we know?

Compare your campaign with another social movement campaign in terms of the effects of race, class and gender and its effect on how organizing occurs or impact made.

Thinking about either your campaign or another one we have read about discuss how micro-level interactions in a particular campaign affect a campaigns overall success?

Describe and justify a hypothetical two year plan for your campaign using the readings and your research.
