I am a frequent customer of the Starbucks. My family and friend always spend our special moment in the Starbucks stores seeping sweet coffee that is offered. It has been a major meeting point not only for me but also for most of my relatives. It is due to this special consideration that Starbucks has played in my life that I seek to make Starbucks the firm of analysis for this course.
Starbucks is a major American coffee company that operates a chain of coffee houses in the globe. The firm is headquarter in Seattle, Washington where it was founded in 1971 as a partnership of three former University of Francisco students. These three are Jerry Baldwin, who was an English Teacher, Zev Siegel, a history teacher and Gordon Bower who was a writer. The three individual were inspired by to offer best and highest quality coffee and coffee equipment to the public after they had been mentored by a coffee roster, Mr. Alfred Peet. Today, the firm is registered in NASDAQ 100 component as SBUX and is registered in S&P 500 category. Starbucks has 23,450 Starbucks location in the globe which includes over 12,000 stores in the United States of America. There are 2118 stores in China that are run by the Starbucks, 1430 in Canada, over 1000 in Japan and 800 in the United Kingdom (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2015)
The Starbucks stores serves the customer with hot as well as cold drinks, whole bean coffee drinks as well as the instant coffee that is micro ground coffee served as either espresso, Caffe latte. The other beverages that are offered at Starbucks include the full leaf teas, half loose leaf tea, and the Tavana tea products. There are evolution juices that are offered are Frappuccino beverages, snacks and pastries (Starbucks Coffee Company, 2014).
These beverages are offered full time but some of the product such as the pumpkin spice Lattes are offered in seasonal and sometime localized to some of the stores. Most of the Starbucks stores also offer prepackaged foods and food items, sandwiches that are either cold or hot and the drinking wares such as mugs and tumblers. A few of the Starbucks stores are known to offer Starbucks evening editions which include the beers, wines and other forms of appetizers. The firm has diversified by labeling its coffees, ice creams ad he bottled coffee drinks which are offered at the local groceries.
The firm has seen an increase in the revenues in the recent past. It was trading below the $10 billion revenue mark in 2011 and recorded $19.2 billion revenues in 2015. The profits have also been increasing steadily to reach &3 billion in 2015. As of today, the stock price was $57.59 (Nasdaq, 2016).
