Project Introduction:
For this project, you will read a fictional case study of a glass pottery manufacturer, Flores Pottery, which is considering
globalization of operations. However, the manufacturer is facing several operational issues, including missing service-
level agreements (SLAs), inventory and warehousing issues, and staffing issues. You will need to propose and develop a
process improvement plan to help the company go global and resolve various operational issues.

Title: Developing Process Improvement Plans
A glass pottery manufacturer, Flores Pottery, is considering globalization of
operations. However, currently this manufacturer is experiencing several
production issues, resulting in missing service level agreements (SLAs) with its
customers.
Flores Pottery accepts orders from its customers and produces the required
items. However, it also stores some items in inventory. The manufacturer has a
small, full-time staff and is considering hiring more employees; but, there is
ambiguity related to staffing and work scheduling.
The process of manufacturing pottery is inefficient and results in several delays.
First, the unfinished glass is delivered on a just-in-time (JIT) schedule from the
supplier, which delays the start of the production process. Second, the glass has
to be refinished by the glass refinement lead, which involves a settling time of
two hours. A couple of challenges in this step are that the settling room is on the
other side of warehouse and the glass is moved back and forth by a forklift
driver. Third, the final staining process takes 24 hours and is done by another
team member.
Assume that you have been hired to consult this manufacturer to recommend
process improvements, open new stores, and improve productivity at existing
locations. Keeping in mind the 10 operations decisions that an operations
manager must address to be successful, prepare a Microsoft PowerPoint
presentation to present your findings and recommend process improvement
strategies to the manufacturer. Your presentation should be comprehensive and
should address the following:

Submission Requirements
Your presentation should not be more than 15 slides.
o Slide 1 should have an appropriate title.
o Slide 2 should provide the summary of the problem statement.
o The last slide should be a “References” slide, including the list
of references that cites all the sources used.
Each slide should have an appropriate heading and a well-written
bulleted list communicating your thoughts.
