Personal, Viable Resource

Based upon our readings and discussions (and Chapters 5 and 7, Rubin; Chapters 8, Palfrey), how might librarians as a whole (and especially school librarians) be regarded as a "personal, visible" resource (see p 277 and 192-199) which information seekers first consider when a question arises?  On a similar note, to quote Mark Bezos' video, how might individual librarians "get in the game and save the shoes," in essence becoming a memory in the mind of the patron? (Answer both questions thoroughly).

Using SPECIFIC examples from Chapter 8 of Rubin, Chapter 9 of Palfrey, as well as the video "What Adults May Learn From Kids," pretend you are testifying before Congress.  Discuss how present-day policy and legislation must be amended, changed, or altered to TRULY support the Library Bill of Rights, also addressing any policy or legislation which SHOULD be written and passed to benefit and enhance our profession and strengthen the Library Bill of Rights and/or the role of libraries in society, education, and academia.
