Scaling Challenge PKA
Instructions
This exercise uses both EIGRP and OSPF. The ISP router divides the two network types. One side of the ISP is OSPF
and the other side of the ISP router is EIGRP.
Subnetting: OSPF and EIGRP both use a distinct network address which you must subnet according to the needs shown
in the topology above. For both networks make sure you subnet so that you optimize IP addresses (don’t be wasteful ---
HINT – VLSM).
For the OSPF network use the following Address: 160.4.0.0
R1 has 4 Loopback networks – each requires 50 hosts per network
Area 51’s network requires 80 hosts
R3 o VLAN 17 requires 30 hosts o VLAN 21 Requires 120 hosts
Don’t forget the serial connections between routers (point to point)
For the EIGRP network use the following Address: 180.18.0.0
RE_2 router has 5 loopback networks – each requires 100 hosts
RE_3 o VLAN 6 requires 28 hosts o VLAN 8 requires 14 hosts
RE_4 network requires 50 hosts
Don’t forget the serial connections between routers (point to point)
Configure basic settings for each AND every switch.
Disable DNS lookup.
Configure the device name as displayed in the topology.
Encrypt plain text passwords.
Configure a MOTD banner warning – use the same one as in class: this [device…router or switch] was configured by [your first name, last name], unauthorized access is prohibited.
Assign scaling as the encrypted privileged EXEC mode password.
Assign fun as the console and vty password
Configure logging synchronous to prevent console message from interrupting command entry.
Shut down all unused switchports
Configure basic settings for each AND every router.
Address all router interfaces.
Disable DNS lookup.
Configure the device name as shown in the topology.
Configure IP addresses for the routers
Encrypt the clear text passwords
Set clock rate to 128000 for all DCE serial interfaces.
Configure a MOTD banner warning – use the same one as in class: this [device…router or switch] was configured by [your first name, last name], unauthorized access is prohibited.
Assign scaling as the encrypted privileged EXEC mode password.
Assign fun for the console and vty password
Configure logging synchronous to prevent console messages from interrupting command entry.
Configure the PCs.
Assign IP address, subnet mask, and correct default gateway to the PCs.
Specific instructions for the OSPF network side:
All routers use MD5 authentication – use cisco123
Use a default static route between R_O1 and R_ISP (quad zero’s)
Don’t advertise the 200.5.5.0 network between R_ISP and R_O1
Ensure R_O1 distributes the static route to all other OSPF enable routers
Configure OSPF on the routers and in correct area per topology above – all with process ID of 55
R_O1 Router ID: 1.1.1.1
R_O2 Router ID: 2.2.2.2
R_O3 Router ID: 3.3.3.3
R2D1 Router ID: 4.4.4.4
R2D2 Router ID: 5.5.5.5
Add correct networks to each router per area o 5 loopbacks on R_O1
Ensure passive interfaces are set correctly o IN AREA 51
Use HSRP and make traffic go through R2D2 as primary and R2D1 is the secondary Ensure SHSRP (switch) has a SVI
o IN AREA 38 Use PAgP between the three switches PC2 is in VLAN 17 PC3 is in VLAN 21 Ensure S17 (switch) has a SVI (in VLAN 17) and S21 (switch) has a SVI (in VLAN 21) Configure Router on a stick for R_O3
o IN AREA 0 Manually summarize (on R_O1) the 4 loopback addresses
Specific instructions for the EIGRP network side:
All routers use MD5 authentication – Use EIGRP_Key and Key 1 and cisco123
Assign 77 as the AS number for the EIGRP process on all routers
No router IDs
Use a default static route between R_E1 and R_ISP (quad zero’s)
Don’t advertise the 210.10.10.0 network
Ensure R_E1 distributes the static route to all other EIGRP routers
Manually summarize the 5 loopback addresses on R_E1
Add correct networks to each router o 5 loopbacks on R_E2
Ensure passive interfaces are set correctly
PC6 is in VLAN6
PC8 is in VLAN 8
S6 (switch) and S8 both require a SVI (ensure each SVI is in correct VLAN)
R_E3 – configure router on a stick
In the network being used by R_E4 o Use LACP between all three switches o Ensure SL, SL2 and SL3 each have a SVI - use default VLAN (VLAN1)
Specific instructions for the R_ISP router
On R_ISP – the port facing OSPF network: Manually summarize all the networks you used (from the subnetting assignment) AND – Don’t include any more of the networks than you needed to per summarization (in other
words list the networks you used for the OSPF side and summarize them…not the entire 160.4.0.0 network)
On R_ISP – the port facing the EIGRP network: Manually summarize all the networks you used (from the subnetting assignment) AND – Don’t include any more of the networks than you needed to per summarization (in
other words list the networks you used for the EIGRP side and summarize them…not the entire 180.18.0.0
network)
When complete you will be able to ping from any pc to any other pc or from any pc to any SVI or Router
