ASSIGNMENT # 2 - CRITICAL ANALYSIS - THREE (3) PEER REVIEWED JOURNAL

ARTICLES 1800 words minimum - 6 page minimum. Must have a HEALTH DISPARITY FOCUS.

Failure to identify and articulate in writing this focus will result in a zero (0) for the assignment. NO websites or magazines. Use of non-approved sources will result in a zero (0) grade.

GOAL of Writing: evaluate the three (3) research articles from an unbiased and unprejudiced perspective.

Research Phase.

Read each article carefully and critically. Use techniques discussed in class. Take marginal notes. Be prepared to share preparation work with instructor.

Formatting and Submission Criteria.

A) Within the introduction section describe the issue at hand from the topic chosen and its importance to your professional field.

B) Identify common themes from all three sources. Share the results of your analysis in narrative paragraphs.

C) What content and conclusions from all three sources can be used for your future research paper?

D) Critical analysis section:

1. In your professional opinion, what was profound or new in each of the three (3) articles?

2. What were the strengths in content? (Validation of your topic).

3. What words from the three (3) articles can you use as the basis of section headings (levels of headings)? Describe in narrative fashion, not as a list.

Include a separate reference page. Use LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 HEADINGS to create separate sections in your paper.

A) Title Page. Use the title: Critical Analysis.

B) The content in the main body of the paper is comprised of items above A–D and 1–3 divided in sections with APA Level 1 and 2 headings.

C) Reference page (separate)

Utilize APA chapter 3 & chapter 4 - - - for proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling and construction of thoughts.

Each article must article must include these headlines:

· Common theme of the article

· Conclusion – results of the research

· Critical analysis (Level one headline)

· Profound/new information

· Strengths and limitations

WRITE IN THIRD (3rd) PERSON when preparing the Critical Analysis paper and both research papers. DO NOT use “I think” or “in my opinion.” Unfamiliar with writing in third person, refer to APA page 69, review the handout in Canvas or conduct an internet search of further examples. Keep your writing focus on your analysis, not on yourself.
