Class 1 (SBA Web site)

Elect a moderator and notetaker for your group; also appoint a moderator and notetaker for next week. The Moderator runs the meeting and asks questions. On the back of this handout, the Notetaker will report what happens in the meeting. When you finish the activities listed here, the group will return to the Instructor and hand in your group’s notes.

1. Help each student create a new folder named BADM 332 in their Documents folder (H: drive). Download the Syllabus and Schedule (Assignments and Due Dates) to the new folder.

2. Download “Vocabulary Quiz Chapter 1” vocabulary list and your group’s Project assignment to your BADM 332 folder. The vocabulary list will be tested by a quiz next class.

3. Find the Small Business Administration website you will use to make the Business Plan. You may use the link below or Google it: SBA “starting a business” http://www.sba.gov/category/navigation-structure/starting-managing-business/starting-business Select the link to “Create Your Business Plan” and browse through the articles on that page, (the sections of your Business Plan writing assignment). http://www.sba.gov/writing-business-plan

4. Each group member will write his or her own Business Plan, describing the business formed by the group. On the back of this sheet, list 3 websites which will help the group members begin to research their Business Plans. The second paper later in the semester, Research Proposal, will describe a Research Pilot Test for your new business.

5. The Moderator should verify that everyone in the group understands the homework assignments for next class: 1. Study the vocabulary list for Chapter 1 (Quiz 1 next week). 2. Read chapter 1 in the text and read: Executive Summary the first article on the SBA Business Plan page.

6. The Notetaker should list the group members’ names on the back of this handout. The Notetaker should assign roles for the next group: Moderator and Notetaker.

7. Return to the Instructor and hand in your group’s notes.
