Job analysis and method used
Job analysis refers to the process of identifying and determining in detail the specific job duties and requirements and relative significance of these tasks for a given job. It is the process where the judgments are made regarding the data collected for a particular job. The analysis is conducted on the job and not the person. The data for a job analysis is being collected from incumbents through questionnaires and interviews; the analysis product is a specification or description of the job. Job analysis enables the organization to know what the employees’ job entails, what they do on the job, how they do it and all they need to know (Kitson & Cramer, 2012).
I decided to use observation method of job analysis. I will observe the employee after which I will record both his performed and non-performed activities, fulfilled and unfulfilled duties and responsibilities, ways, methods and the skills used by that employee to perform the various duties. I will also observe the mental and emotional ability of the employee to handle the risks and challenges related to the job. There are three techniques I would use conducting a job analysis using observation method. These includes direct observation, critical incident technique and work methods analysis. The first one involves direct observation and recording the employee’s behaviors in different situations. The second one involves identifying work behaviors which result in performance and the third one involves studying the motion and time and is mostly used for factory or assembly-line workers (Kitson & Cramer, 2012).

Use of job description to create the performance appraisal
Job descriptions are precious in the performance appraisal process since, after the appraisal, there might be some dissatisfactions in the employees’ mind. They may claim that they were not aware of what was expected of them. This situation is typical and is faced by many organizations. However, with the job description which is signed by the employee during the job acceptance, this excuse cannot be made. Therefore, no any employee can challenge the performance appraisal process (Abraham, 2014).
