OLP 4404/5504 - Classroom Assessment Technique (CAT) –7 points

Overview of the Assignment

For this assignment you will create a CAT for your case study. This is an opportunity to think about how you might use a CAT in your real-life or fictitious class.

Requirements for the CAT assignment

Because a written CAT assignment is distributed to others, the CAT part of this assignment does not need to be in APA format. However your rationale does need to be in APA. Correct grammar should be used throughout the evaluation.

Assignment:

The assignment will include:

· Cover page, your case study and level 1 evaluation.

· CAT, which begins on a new page and includes:

· Space for student name, unless you want the CAT to be anonymous.

· Instructions for completing the CAT (written instructions or the verbal instructions you will use for the CAT).

· The CAT itself.

· Rationale for your CAT.

Starting on a new page, write a 2-5 paragraph rationale for your decision to use this CAT. Include:

· What CAT are you using and why use this CAT for your particular case study?

· For example: Why you think this CAT will be beneficial in this class? What do you hope to gain from this CAT? How to you anticipate using the data from the CAT? Why did/didn’t you have students include their names? When will you use this CAT?

· Why is a CAT worth including in this class?

· For example: What do you see as the impact of this CAT? How will it benefit you and the students? How will it be different/better than giving a more traditional student-centered assessment?

You are strongly encouraged, although not required, to share your assignment with your group for feedback before you submit the assignment.
