Arellano Spring 2016
Annotated Bibliography Specifics
Due: March 24, 2016
This assignment sheet will provide you with more specific information on how to write your annotated bibliography. Your research question will be the title of your annotated bibliography. You will label each stakeholder group (at least four) with a number and name of group. Then you will provide a brief statement of the stakeholder’s position.
You must also give the following information for each of your sources (eight minimum):
1. MLA citation of source
2. Basic Description
3. Analysis
4. Evaluation
Specifics of Components
MLA citations (We will discuss at length in class)
Basic Description
· The full name of author(s)
· The date of publication
· The genre (journal article, book chapter, magazine article, etc.) and title of the text; if the text is part of another larger text (like a journal, newspaper, magazine, etc.), include that title too
Analysis
· The main audience of the text
· The main argument or idea of the text
· An explanation of how the author supports this main idea (i.e. through the use of a logical argument, data, statistics, anecdotes, observations, etc.); give a few examples of this evidence
· The purpose of the text (i.e. inform, educate, entertain, etc.); don’t just say “inform” for all of your sources, think about what the authors’ intentions were when they wrote the text
· Any significant context of the source (i.e. any background information that it is necessary to know to be able to make sense of this source)
Evaluation
· An explanation of whether or not you think this is a credible source (remember to support your explanation with examples from the text)
· An explanation of why you chose this source over another, and how you would use this source in your paper (if you were actually going to write a paper)
Logistics
· Your annotated bibliography will be double spaced, times new roman 12pt font, with one-inch margins and MLA formatting as with the last assignment. (See example for details)
· You will submit your final annotated bibliography to the D2L dropbox by class time on March 24th.
· You will complete drafts along the way. I will compare these drafts to your completed final document to consider the revisions you have made. Peer review and teacher conferences are not for our health.
