The Accident: One Life Lesson
It is a fact that every one of us has the past that constitutes events, some of which were tragic. Research has indicated that majority of the events were as a result of negligence or mere ignorance of the rules. My Childhood friends were extremely influential in molding me to who I am this day. Numerous events happened in my teenage life. However, one tragic event happened while my closest friend Ahmed accompanied me. I spent many years of my childhood time with him. During our teen years, a tragic event occurred to us, which baffles my imagination to date. It is almost impractical to believe that we escaped that tragic event alive.
At the age of 16, I had little or no knowledge of the consequences of my actions. Therefore, most of the activities I was involved in as a teenager were careless and dangerous. At that age, I had a total disregard for the rule of law, and I took life for granted. My irresponsible behavior led to one of the most memorable tragic events in my life, which taught me crucial life lessons albeit through the hard way. In one warm summer night in my teenage years, a vital lesson in life was learned. A tragic event occurred, which gave me the important lesson that life is unique and should never be taken for granted. It is an event that got Ahmed involved, and he nearly lost his life.
Notable is that we had a common character with my best friend, Ahmed. We were age-mates, and we were both rebellious. At the age of 16, every teenager yearns to get a driver’s license. This day came, and it was nothing different for me. This is a day that lingers in my mind every day of my life. After driving for a while in an off-road stretch, we finally arrived at a two-lane, straight asphalt, which was well beyond a mile and a half long. I could not wait to experience the thrill of speed on the stretch.
After we had buckled our safety belts, I stepped on the gas with immense force and the vehicle roared and sprout, leaving behind a huge cloud of smoke. With music impacting, voices are singing and talking, it was another ordinary ride to class with my closest companion. Due to our tardy takeoff, I went fast, too quickly. We began down the first street to our destination. This street spoke the truth three miles in length and loaded with little slopes. As we broke the highest point of one of the little, visually impaired slopes amidst the right path was a dead deer. With no idea, simply by intuition I pulled the auto's wheel to one side and back over to one side. No major ordeal yet I was going fast. One thing that shocks me to date is the speed of over hundred miles per hour I was driving at with complete ignorance of the consequences and with total disregard of the speed limits, which were clearly indicated.
The car swerved back to one side, then to the one hand. Every time I could feel the car scratching the earth with its side. My body jarred with the sporadic developments of the car. The car swerved to the ideal for the last time. With my eyes fixed tight, I could feel my body buoy off the car's seat. Although I do not remember clearly what happened, I remember seeing total darkness and suddenly hearing a big bang. What followed were scenes, which are hard to forget. My seat belt had become extremely tight on my chest. In front of us was a huge trunk and branches all over the car.
I had driven past a wire fence and crashed into a tree. Moments after the tragic accident, I would feel blood oozing from my mouth and my nose. My immediate attention turned to Ahmed whom I realized was bleeding profusely. With his eyes closed, and his seat twisting towards me, I feared for the worst. As I tried calling his name, I was trembling with fear and shock. Although he was excessively bleeding, my only hope was that he was not hurt as much as I was. After I had regained my consciousness, I realized that I had driven past a wire fence, which had cut through the car’s windshield, as well as the entire topmost section of the car.
Although the temperature was mild, I was sweating excessively. I knew that I would be in trouble with the authorities. However, my worry was not the trouble I would get into with the authorities, but the safety of my childhood best friend, Ahmed. His screams during the crash were frightening. The thought of having crashed Ahmed to death was unbelievable. He was the kid whom I trusted most and a friend who would not trade our friendship. I knew the tragic accident was as a result of my fault and that if anything had happened to Ahmed I was entirely to blame.
Ahmed’s face was covered with blood, and I was ashamed to look at him when he was clutching his chest from the deep cut inflicted by the tight seat belt. In the midst of the events, I was in deep thoughts concerning the whole accident. It was worrying how I was to break the news of the accident to my parents. Additionally, I was in deep thoughts on what to do with my new car, which was now completely damaged. It also dawned on me that I might lose a driver’s license as a result of my negligent driving. The most surprising thing is that Ahmed apologized to me when he got up. I, however, responded by apologizing to him for having caused him the trouble. It had now also dawned on me that I had messed up, and I was almost killing one of my best childhood friends.
I heard an uneasy voice out there, "Anna Oh my God! Anna!" It was my father. I was frustrated and humiliated of myself. I had disappointed him. My voice shouted for help as my heart beat quickly with trepidation and alleviation. The car wiggled. I could feel it's heaviness lift gradually from me. Interestingly, serious torment struck my lower half. "Creep out of there," somebody hollered to me. I pushed against the ground energetically however I couldn't move. The torment was intense, in any case I couldn't feel the lower half of my body. I looked at Ahmed and felt incapacitated. As yet attempting to move, I felt solid arms coast around my shoulders and under my armpits. They medicate me off the beaten path of the falling auto. My father had rescued me.
As I lay on the weed on the ground, a few individuals encompassed me. I groggily glanced around and saw my sister sited in Indian style beside me, with blood on her feet. She had run shoeless to the closest house to call 911 and my father. She was our savior. Is it true or it was just a fantasy? Everything had happened so quickly. Consistently lying on that soil felt like a lifetime. Ahmed lay unconscious next to me, and I could see some people trying to jab his chest to ensure continuity in breathing. Strangers continued jabbing every last bit of my body and pushing me with inquiries that I didn't have answers. Eventually, the ambulance arrived. They hurried over to where I was laying. They solicited me some questions that I carelessly addressed and began to get me prepared to go. With a splendid orange prop around my neck, they gradually pushed me onto a hardened backboard. Each modest development they made punctured my lower half like a blade. We at last made it into the rescue vehicle and advanced toward the hospital.
Those were the last subtle elements I recollect about the mischance yet when I woke up in healing center and understood the degree of my wounds I was scared. I would never walk again and that my vocation dreams were over. It took three weeks for me to be discharged from doctor's facility and throughout the following four months I was bound to a wheelchair and housebound. It was a mental and physical battle re-figuring out how to walk and assembling my life back. I was enchanted when following eight months I had the capacity profit to class for light obligations and regardless of needing to re-sit the first year paper in secondary school. Regardless I experience the ill effects of back agony and must be watchful about the kind of work I do. I've likewise needed to surrender distractions like football, skateboarding, and boxing. Interestingly, Ahmed had only minor chest injuries, and he was discharged after one week. He also had stitches in her eye, head, and elbow. I was reassured that he was not severely hurt. If something bad extremely bad happened to him, I don’t know what I would have done. The impact of the crash had caused him to pass out and I still thank God to this date for saving his life
It would be worthless at this juncture to say that the car was completely wrecked. The crash had been caused by my carelessness as I drove through a wire fence and hit a tree before hitting a mound of garbage that forced the car to roll several times. Within a span of five seconds, I had learned numerous life lessons. Life can change permanently within a very short period. The decisions we make concerning life are paramount. The accident taught me how precious life is and how lucky I was to have survived. I think and reflect on this night every other time in my life. It taught me crucial life lessons such as the regard for the rule of law, as well as driving within the specified speed limits. I have continually tried to tell my friend and loved ones about the accident anytime I remember it, hoping that they learn helpful lessons from it. Death can clear you away in a moment. A few individuals simply give it a chance to happen, yet others are just excessively resolute, making it impossible to surrender.
