Mystery Shopping Report

Taco Bell

I went to the Taco Bell on South Rutherford in Murfreesboro. I visited on a Sunday night at 7:30 pm. As I first pulled into the parking lot of Taco Bell, I noticed the signage was clearly seen. The marketing window clings were also clearly seen. The landscaping was very well-maintained. The parking lot was clean and clear of garbage. I checked out the building and it was in good condition. Overall, I would say the exterior was in good condition. The window clings made me want to try out the foods that were being advertised.

As I walked into the store, I was not greeted when I walked in. I would definitely suggest that it be a requirement for the employees to acknowledge and welcome in the guests. It makes me feel more welcome and more likely to come back to your restaurant if I feel welcome there. There were two groups of people ahead of me in line. I would suggest that there would be another cashier if the line was any longer. The cashier had a very positive attitude and was very friendly while ordering with her. She also had a clean uniform. The cashier did not try to up sale me. Although I am not a fan of being asked if I want to try a certain product after I have ordered, but I do suggest that the cashiers do mention an item to add on. It may not make them want to try it right then, but it may come across their mind sometime during the week and come back later to try it out. I believe it is important to promote your new and existing products to increase sales.

The inside was fairly clean. When I walked in, I noticed a table with food still on it and one table had a drink cup left on it. I would suggest that the employees keep an eye on the dining room and clean up the necessary objects. The inside was well lit and the temperature was very comfortable. The condiments were not completely stocked. Some of the sauce section was completely empty. Also, the drink machines were not completely stocked. Many people, such as myself, come to Taco Bell mainly for the drink called “Baja Blast”. This is a good way to get customers in by offering a drink that is only available at Taco Bell. Baja Blast was out of order the time of my visit, so it would be wise to make sure the machines are stocked up for people who come here for the certain beverage.

I received my food in a good timely manner and the meal order was correct. The serving size was good. I was very pleased with the price of the product as well. It was very affordable and makes me want to come in more often. The “box” deal, which usually includes three items of food and a drink for $5, is a great idea. They also have a deal where you can get a smaller meal for around $2.79. This is a smart strategy because it is a good option for people who are needing a cheap, quick meal. I also checked out the women’s restroom and it was very clean. It was also stocked up with all of the necessary items.

Overall, my dining experience with Taco Bell was a very positive one. Your products were well advertised on the window clings. It definitely made me want to swing by and try the new product being advertised. I would point out that the employees should be required to try to add on an item or promote a product to a customer. By verbally promoting your products, your sales will increase. It would also be ideal to keep your condiments and drink machines stocked up. I also noticed Taco Bell offers a “happy hour” which consists of a certain burrito and medium sized drinks being only a $1 during 2-5 in the afternoon. This is a great promotion strategy to help get customers in during the slower times in the day.
