Start-up Concept
The proposed project intends to solve some social problems in the community thus fulfilling unmet needs. In the contemporary world, various issues are affecting the society in a negative way. The youths, as well as the low-income people, are the most affected. For instance, some young people drop out of school, abuse drugs, engage in premarital sex or form criminal gangs (Comolli & Etchart, 2013). As a result, most end up in prison, have unwanted pregnancies or fail in life. Equally, the poor people are likely to have high levels of stress because of problems. Furthermore, they can also engage in some of the activities mentioned above. The concept of reducing these social issues is an opportunity for starting the free soccer field. There are also very few projects in the community that serve the same purpose as the one the soccer field intends to do.
Approach a Non-profit
The development of the concept involves creating a service that will act as a social reward. The concept of the soccer field will push through a non-profit organization. The idea is to utilize the opportunity to achieve a social cause instead of earning profits. For that reason, access to the soccer field will not cost the target groups any money. The organization will cooperate with interested sponsors to provide the service free to the low-income persons and the young individuals. So long as a person falls into the category of the target group, he or she can access the soccer grounds any time of the day. In addition, if the organization ever gets any revenue, the proceeds will develop the soccer ground for better services. The service will strive to involve as many young and poor people as possible to make the society a better place to live.
Mission and Mission Statement
The soccer field project will strive to transform the society by reaching to the low-income members and the young persons. As such, it will offer this group of individuals as a way of spending their free time. It will encourage teamwork and commitment by creating friendships through soccer. The venture also aims at promoting healthy living among the youths and people who cannot afford the gym membership. According to Comolli and Etchart (2013), self-worth and dignity are essential elements of a quality life and the project will create such an opportunity for the vulnerable people.
Mission Statement
“The soccer field project is a non-profit organization for the low-income population and the youths in the community. The project believes that the youths are the future of our society and creating the values of commitment, teamwork and responsibility will make them successful. The organization also strives to improve the lives of the poor people. Our services will create a stronger and a safer community for all.”
Target Market
The target market enables an organization to concentrate its efforts on a group of people are likely to benefit from an individual product or service (Ziegler, 2009). The plan aims at focusing on two groups of people: the youths and the less fortunate members of the community. A majority of the youths are likely to involve themselves in negative activities such as drug abuse and gangs. Moreover, some of them still depend on their parents for money to spend on co-curriculum activities. Therefore, the soccer field will ensure the youths in the surrounding areas spend their leisure time playing soccer. The second category of the target market is the low-income individuals. This group does not have enough money to access soccer fields. As such, providing them with a free soccer field will assist them in participating in a healthy activity to reduce stress.
Key Donor Groups
Financial resources are one of the most significant elements of a project, as it will determine its success or failure (Ziegler, 2009). Since the soccer ground services will be offered to the target group through a non-profit organization, around 70% of the revenue is from the donors. Firstly, the organizers of the project intend to approach the state and the federal governments. Both forms of governments have adopted various strategies for improving the quality of life for the youths and the poor. As such, the soccer field projects is one of the strategies of fulfilling the government’s policies. The other donor group is the religious organizations in the area. Some churches have pledged to contribute a substantial amount of financial resources to the cause. A few business groups will also donate funds to the project as part of their corporate social responsibility. Moreover, since academic institutions are unable to provide playing grounds for all members of the society, some of them have promised to fund the project. Lastly, the project expects to receive some donations from individuals who believe in the mission of the soccer ground services.
Key Fundraising Activities
The donors contribute towards three-quarters of the total revenue to support the soccer field plan, but the rest will come from different fundraising events. For instance, a raffle fundraising is a favorite activity as compared to other fundraising strategies that will ensure the project gets finances. The plan can work better if the local businesses donate some raffle prizes. The other event is engaging in contests like sports competition funded by politicians, private organizations, well-wishers among other groups. The cash prizes won from such competitions will go a long way to support the project. Additionally, holiday fundraising events can raise enormous funds because most people are willing to support community projects during major holidays such as Christmas and Easter (Comolli & Etchart, 2013).
Measuring Success
The aim of the soccer ground venture is to guarantee that the youths and the low-income population participate in constructive activities to reduce their chances of engaging in dangerous activities. Consequently, the project will determine its success by identifying some indications. Firstly, if there are many youths and poor people playing soccer on the field, then it means the venture is serving its purpose. Without a doubt, reduction of risky behaviors like drug abuse, theft as well as gang activities in the community is a sign of achievement. Besides, a decrease in stress among the target market groups is a good indication of the accomplishments of the soccer field project. After measuring the success of the project then it will continue expanding to offer more benefits to the society.
