Project Introduction:

The project will help you understand the importance of project management.

A company’s headquarter is moving to another city. In this project, you need to determine the scope of the

move, build a team, create a communication plan, analyze and document risks, create a simple project

schedule, make assumptions on cost and budget, and provide a path of resolution on any issues that

appear. You will use the project management tools and techniques that you learn throughout this course to

aid the organization in successfully moving.

You will complete the project in two parts. Part 1 is due in Module 3 and Part 2 is due in Module 5.

In the first part, you will develop the scope, project team, communication plan, and risk management plan

for moving the company’s headquarter.

In the second part, you will create a detailed plan in Microsoft Project outlining the steps to complete the

move of the headquarters. Consider the requirements that will need to be met within the project plan

(dependency, having something with a lag time, and so on). Also, create a risk mitigation plan in this project.

 Read Chapters 1, 3, 5, 6, and 7 from your textbook Project

Management: Achieving Competitive Advantage. These

readings will help you understand the entire life cycle of a

project, including selection, scope management, and team

building and communication management, along with risk

management.

 Read Chapter 3 from your textbook A Guide to the Project

Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide). This

reading will help you understand the process groups that

relate to the initial creation of a project in terms of inputs

and outputs to correctly plan the project.

 Read Chapters 1–4 from your textbook Project 2013

Absolute Beginner’s Guide. These readings will help you

have a basic understanding of how to create a simple, yet

effective, project plan that can help manage the tasks of a

project.

 Go through the lessons for Modules 1, 2, and 3, which

cover the concepts of project management and highlight

the knowledge areas and importance of project

management process, scope management, and risk

management.

 Read Chapter 5 from your textbook Project 2013 Absolute

Beginner’s Guide. This reading will help you assign

resources to the tasks that are contained in your project

plan.

Title: Executing the Move According to Plan

Complete the following tasks:

 Create a detailed plan in Microsoft Project, outlining the

steps to complete the move of the headquarters. Consider

the requirements that will need to be met within the

project plan (dependency, having something with a lag

time, resource allocation, and so on).

 Include at least 20 lines of tasks for this move.

 Create a risk mitigation plan in this project.

Submission Requirements:

Submit the project plan in Microsoft Project format (.mpp) and

submit the risk mitigation plan in a Microsoft Word document of

the following specifications:

 Font: Arial, Size: 12 point
