Respond to two of Posts below with a minimum of 100 words/each!

1. Hey everyone! My name is Rachel Zima and I am currently 19 years old and a sophomore here at UNCW.  I’m originally from Chicago, but my family just moved to Tennessee over the summer, which was a pretty big adjustment.  Although I miss being able to see my friends that I grew up with on breaks, the weather is ALOT nicer in Tennessee.  I am taking this class to fulfill a requirement for my major, communication, but also because I really enjoy English (and might even minor in it!).  I enjoy being around friends and family, running and working out and spending time at the beach.  I’m very excited to take this class and improve both my reading and writing skills and grow as a student!

2. Greetings classmates, my name is Jacob Boll and I’m from a city called Charlotte. I am originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan but moved to Charlotte about 10 years ago. I have always been very passionate about sports since I was very young. Growing up in Michigan we used to have an ice rink in our backyard every winter and I continued playing multiple sports every year until recently. Although I don’t play any sports competitively any longer, I still enjoy intramurals, pick up games, and also watching sports. I also enjoy editing pictures on photoshop and creating designs for t-shirts and other products.  I am taking this class to get a better understanding of writing and literature and also to meet the requirements to be accepted into University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Cameron School of Business where I will specifically be studying management information systems.  I am looking forward to this semester and hope everyone else here is as well.

3. Hello fellow classmates! My name is Kate Scott and I am in my second year at UNCW. I live off campus in an apartment with my best friend.  I am originally from Canton, Ohio, but when I was nine years old I moved to a small town in North Carolina named Kernersville (it’s near the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area). I work at a preschool as an afternoon teacher’s assistant. My whole life I’ve always worked around kids, whether it was being a nanny over the summer or babysitting my weekends away, so of course I love my job! But, surprisingly, I am not an education major or anything of the sort. I am actually a Business Administration major with a focus in accounting with a Spanish minor. I am taking this course mostly because it is a university study requirement, but I am specifically taking this course online because it fits into my busy schedule better. This is only my second online course but my first one went very well so I am looking forward to this semester in this English class!

4. My name is Kyle and I am a sophomore transfer student. With that being said, this is going to be my first semester at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. For my freshman year of college, I attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. After my freshman year of college, I decided to transfer out of Eckerd College because I wanted a larger university atmosphere. From there I went to Cape Fear Community College to get some classes I needed to have on my transcript in order to get accepted into UNCW. I went into my freshman year with my major being undecided but as of right now, I have decided to pursue a business administration major. I am taking this class to fulfill the English requirement for graduation but to also be able to apply to the Cameron School of Business. This is going to be my first full on line class so hopefully I can figure it out!

5. My name is Johnilea Lander and I am a transfer student from National University in San Diego, CA. Just to clarify, it’s pronounced John-e-lee. I am a pre-nursing major and this will be my second semester at UNCW. I’m originally from the tiny town of Forney, TX, which is about 20 miles south of Dallas. Being from the south should explain my odd first name. I spent five years as an active duty Marine at Camp Lejeune and left the service in 2012. I then moved with my husband to Miramar Air Station and then moved back here to Camp Lejeune just two short years later. I’m taking this course to fulfill a general education requirement but English has always been one of my favorite subjects. I enjoy cooking, reading, painting, and I am completely obsessed with my three dogs: Rocky, Bandit, and Austin. Rocky and Bandit are Dachshunds and Austin is a Great Dane.  They are as goofy a trio as you think they are. I’m excited to get to know all of you this semester and with everybody’s diverse backgrounds debates should get interesting!

6. My name is Rachel Bowman. I am a sophomore here at UNCW and am majoring in Environmental Science concentration biology and minoring in chemistry. I hope to eventually work with agriculture and making it more sustainable and eco friendly. I am from Morgantown, Pennsylvania. It is an extremely small town approximately forty five minutes from Lancaster, which you may have heard of. It is a famous tourist spot for the Amish and we have lots of horse and buggies and shoofly pie. I transferred here this past fall semester from Syracuse University. I truly despise the snow, especially when you get over 24 inches in one day and still have class. I love the beach and have always vacationed at Ocracoke Island, NC. I have family here in Wilmington and am currently loving UNCW and the warmth. In high school I struggled with my English courses and hope to see a difference in this class.
