What is your writing process? In other words, what steps do you normally take when

working on a composition (paper)? Describe your “real” writing process in all of its gory

detail. At least 200 words.

Questions to help you get started:

1. Environment: Where are you? What is around you? What resources or materials

do you have on-hand? What does it sound like? What does it feel like

(temperature, etc.)? Are other people there? Do you sit at a desk, on the floor, in a

beanbag chair?

- I like to write at home alone in my work-room with a cup of water, in a quite

environment.

- Internet is a great resource for me. As an international student from another

country, online dictionary is a must have material to help me to look for “word”

that I think of.

- I often feel cold when I focus to do something; therefore, I usually wrap myself

in a cozy blanket.

- I have two screens of desktop, one is for writing (MS word), another one is for

web-page (internet, dictionary…)

- I would spin my chair around when I get bored, tired or to help me think about

what I am going to write next.

2. Pre-writing: Do you usually engage in any pre-writing activities, such as

brainstorming, outlining, free-writing, and so on?

- 2 years ago, I had to brainstorm and free-writing in Spanish and then tried find

the way to translate it correctly to English. I didn’t think it is a good way…

- Now, I usually start with brainstorming in English…..

- and then make an outlining, and start free-writing, write whatever thought I have

in my head. Of course, all English.….

3. Writing: How do you go about the activity of drafting a composition?

4. Revising: Do you usually revise a composition before submitting a final draft?

How many revisions?

5. Editing/Proofreading: At what stage in your process do you edit and proofread

your work? What techniques or strategies do you have?

6. Research: If you are required to conduct research, how do you typically go about

it? What techniques or strategies do you have?

7. Avoiding Plagiarism: How do you ensure you have not plagiarized?
