· Using the Web, find examples of a mission statement and a vision statement from the same company.

· Include them in your main post, using quotation marks and citing your source.

· Explain how the two statements are different and how they are alike.

For this week's discussion, I will be using an example of a mission statement and a vision statement from the company Walmart.

Walmart's mission statement: "Saving people money so they can live better (Ferguson, 2015)."

Walmart's vision statement: "To be the best retailer in the hearts and minds of consumer and employees (Ferguson, 2015)."

In my opinion, these two statements are alike as they both convey messages that are clear and simple as the overall aim appears to be to offer a certain level of satisfaction that will most likely have an overall positive impact. I also believe that these two statements also give insight into the culture and values of the Walmart corporation.

In my opinion, these two statements are different as i believe that Walmart's mission statement is a strategy and approach that is used to lure in consumers. Then on the other hand, there is Walmart's vision statement that expresses more of what their goals and aspirations are as a corporation.

· Explain how the two statements are different and how they are alike.

Google’s Mission Statement: “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful (Thompson, 2015).”

Google’s Vision Statement: “To provide access to the world’s information in one click (Thompson, 2015).”

The two statements are similar in the fact that both statements highlight they want to be easily accessible. The mission statement states how they will make the world’s information accessible on a universal level and their vision statement is a broad statement of what they want their company to be or where they want it go stating that they will provide this information with one click.. They ultimately want to be the best search engine globally and accessible at everyone’s fingertips.
