1.0 Introduction

There have been 40 individuals who have visited the hospital for information and education concerning their diabetes. When the patients came to the hospital their glucose level was measured. These patients under took a knowledge test about diabetes. There was a survey to measure their satisfaction. The analysis are based on:

1. Measure central tendency: mean & median

2. Measure variability: variance and standard deviation

3. Measure of correlation and dependence: Correlation coefficient

The variables used for this analysis:

1. Hospital Stay: number of days

2. Hospital Satisfaction: level of satisfaction

3. Diabetes Pretest: score on diabetes knowledge test (95 or higher)

4. Diabetes Posttest: score on knowledge test after receiving education material

5. Glucose: blood glucose

2.0 Individual Variables

2.1 Hospital Stay

The total number of days a patients remained in the hospital was 201 days. The mean is 5 days. Median is 5.5, mode is 8 with a standard deviation of 2.73

2.2 Hospital Satisfaction

The mean of patients with high satisfactory ranking is 5 with a median of also 5 and mode is 1. The patients who stayed for 1 days were highly satisfied. The mean of patients with high dissatisfaction ranking is also 5 with a median of 5.5 and mode of 2 which shows us that patients who stayed 2 days were the ones who were highly dissatisfied.

2.3 Diabetes Pretest

As you can see the mean is 50.25, median 51 and mode is 52 with a standard deviation of 18.22. this shows that the maximum pretest result was 52.

2.4 Diabetes Posttest

The mean of patients with Diabetes Posttest is 52, mean is 50.50, mode is 30 with a standard deviation of 23.11. This shows that the maximum pretest result was 30.

2.5 Glucose

The mean of patient with Glucose is 111, median is 102, mode is 63 with a standard deviation of 43.51. this shows that the maximum patient with Glucose was 63.

3.0 Pairing Variables

3.1 Hospital Stay & Satisfaction

As you can see there is a correlation between the hospital stay and level of satisfaction. Patients were more satisfied when there stayed only 1 day. As number of days increases, the level of satisfaction decreases. The maximum patient stay was 8 days.

3.2 Hospital Stay & Glucose

Average Glucose was 111.38. The mean was 63, median was 102 and mode was 63, which means that patients with Glucose stayed the longest in the hospital.

4.0 Conclusion

The results show that patients who stayed 1 day were the most satisfied. The longer a patient stayed, the less satisfied he becomes. The second of stay were the most people who were dissatisfied. The maximum number of days a patient stayed at the hospital was 8.
