Critical Thinking Reflection
Week 5 Critical Thinking Reflection Help
There are 2 parts to this 15-Point assignment.
In the first part (6 Points), you are required to address one of the three options.
· how can we reduce poverty in the United States?
· or, will receiving a college degree improve your career opportunities?
· or, has the United States peaked as a world power?
This is clearly going to be a summary of your approach, as we can’t solve any of these problems in 300 to 500 words! While you are basically providing your viewpoint, you need to demonstrate how critical thinking has lead you to this conclusion.
In the second part (6 Points), you are required to address each of the three questions (1.5 Point each).
· Which critical thinking principles did you apply to your response?
· How can you use critical thinking in other areas?
· What steps can you take to ensure that you continue to use critical thinking in the future?
Don’t get so caught up in the first part that you forget to answer these!
HINT: Use a heading for each question so that I clearly understand what question you are referring to!
The third part of your assignment is writing mechanics (3 Point). I will grade your essay based on the number of mistakes per 100 words (1.5 Point). I calculate the number of mistakes per 100 words, and then divide that number by 20 to establish the deduction. I do not deduct more than 0.5 points. For example, if you make 3.2 errors per 100 words, I will deduct 0.16 points (3.2/20).
I also grade APA elements, as described in the rubric (1.5 Point):
Your assignment is in line with the following APA requirements that you will be required to follow:
-All margins should be set to 1"
-Paragraphs begin with a 1/2" indent
-Your paper should be double spaced
-All text should be the same font/style
NOTE: If I detect large sections of copied or paraphrased text without proper citations and references, I will file charges of Academic Dishonesty. This can result in an F grade for the class, plus a 6 month suspension, or expulsion. The price is way too high!
