How many times have you said “I just need a few more hours in my day!”? In our hectic lives

and the highly competitive world of business, finding time to adequately address each area of our

lives can be a challenge…but not impossible. Managing one’s time is crucial to not only being

well rounded but also successful. To this end, please complete the following:

1. Go back to the four list you created in the “Who Am I” exercise. Start by selecting one skill from your “personal review of skills” that you feel you are currently working on as

well as one value from each list (work, work-related, and lifestyle). Create a spreadsheet

which has five columns, one for each of the themes you selected and one for

“Miscellaneous”.

2. For each theme, determine three “big rocks” which need to consistently be addressed as part of that role; then, determine five “little rocks” which need to be somewhat

consistently addressed as part of that role. Use the “Miscellaneous” column to catch any

activities that you know are important to your life but really do not fit into one of the four

columns you selected.

3. Select four consecutive days between October 3rd and October 18th during which to conduct your experiment, one of which should be a weekend day. Create a calendar on

which you schedule the four days. Use your “rocks” fill out the schedule completely,

leaving not even a single minute unassigned.

4. Conduct your experiment by following your schedule to the letter. Keep notes on your thoughts, experiences, successes and failures during the experiment. Note: Things will

throw you off course; however, strive to stick to the schedule as stringently as possible.

5. Reflect on your experiences. What went right? What went wrong? What “rocks” were mislabeled? What “rocks” were omitted that needed included? What roles are ill-

defined in your life? Construct a 750 word, informal APA correct essay which transfers

your reflection on what you gained and learned from the experiment to paper.
