PROJECT PLAN PART 1 6
Project Plan Part 1
November 23, 2015
The project of constructing an emergency department in Arizona is a project that has to be carried out in a manner that will help in avoiding any risks that can jeopardize the project. The main risk of this project is the failure to complete the project due to poor management. This is because there are many projects that were managed poorly, and that led to the project coming to a stand-still in the process. The project manager and the project committee have to come up with an approach that will ensure that all the requirements of the project are estimated accurately, so as to prevent a stall of the project due to unavailability of resources (Meredith & Mantel Jr, 2011). This is the responsibility of the project manager to ensure that all the resources especially funds are enough before the start if the construction.
The construction of the emergency department in Arizona will take approximately one year. This is because there will be two months that will be used in collection and gathering of analysis regarding the project. This is the information that will be used by the project manager and the committee in coming up with estimations of the resources required. For example, the project manager will be able to understand the money that will be required in completion of the project. There will also be two months for design and documentation. This is because after the estimations there should be the construction of the design that will be used in the construction of the emergency department. For example, the designers will have to understand the purpose of the construction, so that they may place all the parts of the construction in place in their design.
After designing and documentation, two months will be used in developing the construction. This is the stage where all the resources required for the project are brought together so that the construction process can start. After the development, the project will take four months of the construction process. This is the stage in which the contractor will use his employees in the construction process. This is the stage that will take the most time of the project. This is because during the construction concrete must be given time to dry. The final stage of the project will be finishing. This is the stage in which after the construction process resources that will be used in the department such as chairs and desk will be brought in. This stage will take two months. Therefore, the project will take twelve months which is equivalent to one year.

The estimated budget is $4 million dollars. This is because the construction and the development of the emergency department design will cost half a million dollars and the design and documentation process will cost more than one hundred thousand. The gathering of information and analysis will require intensive research by the members of the company among specialists so that they can collect enough information about the initiation of the project and the views of the customers (Meredith & Mantel Jr, 2011). This will cost an estimate of one hundred thousand. There will be payment of the taxes for the land where the construction will be made; this will be an average of one hundred thousand. The remaining two hundred thousand will be for safety purposes for the progress of the project. This is because there should be spare funds that should be ready for usage during a project this is in case there is an upcoming issue concerning the project then it can be solved with that money.
Labor will be one of the main resources that will be required for the success of the project. This is because in almost all the stages of the project there will labor required (Gido& Clements, 2014). For example, during construction labor will be necessary to carry the construction materials and to carry out the construction. Labor is estimated to use half of the budget. This is because the contractor will have to be paid and the laborers. The researchers and construction designers will also have to be paid. The estimated budget of the labor is $2 million.
There are various resources that will be required for the development process of the project. The first resource that will be required is land (Gido& Clements, 2014). This is because the emergency department will have to be constructed on land that will have to be bought. One acre of land will be enough for the project. The other resource that will be required for the process if funds. The success of the projects depends on the contributions made by donors and well-wishers. This is because the project is not for a for-profit organization but a non-profit agency. These funds have to reach the estimated budget of $4 million so that it (project) can be initiated. Labor is another resource that will be necessary for the success of the project. This is because as discussed earlier most of the stages of the project require labor. For example, the designing and documentation stage will require a designer who will be the laborer. Engineers and plumbers are other examples of the laborer who will be required in the project. The other resources that will be required are the construction materials such as sand and cement (Clements &Gido, 2009). These resources will have to be bought before the construction process is initiated so that there will be no stagnations of the project due to lack of construction materials.
In conclusion, this is a vital project for the society because there has been the issue of inadequate emergency departments in the country. This is because there is an increase in population while the emergency departments that existed were not serviced. This project will help in tackling the problem of deaths due to lack of attention by doctors. For example, there are many people who required emergency medical attention but died since they were not attended to because there were no vacancies in the existing department. Therefore, this is a project that should be embraced by all people of the society including the government because it will help in saving lives.
