Running Head: GENDER INEQUALITY 1
GENDER INEQUALITY 5
GENDER INEQUALITY
Introduction
Gender inequality is still a major problem in the United States and the world at the moment despite the measures put in place to ensure that women are treated equally as men. I am proud to say that the United States is on the forefront to ensure gender inequality is a thing of the past, but it is a sad truth that most developing countries are still behind in ensuring gender equality. It is a high time we recognize that gender inequality is a problem in the world and should be looked into before it gets worse. This research will endeavor to find the solution of the gender inequality problem to give women equal chances as men in the society (Catherine, 2015).
Description of the Issue
Gender inequality still subsists worldwide notwithstanding the significant nationwide and intercontinental processes that have been taken in the direction of gender equality. Only four out of over 135 countries have accomplished gender equality, and they comprise the following: Costa Rica, Cuba, Sweden, and Norway. Research has shown that Yemen scores the lowest across all magnitudes. Measures of gender equality take account of admittance to rudimentary education, health and life probability, the equivalence of financial prospect, and political enablement. Even though there have been manifest improvements, numerous frightening disputes concerning gender percipience still prevail currently; consequently, total gender equality ought to be made a worldwide precedence as a necessary and crucial step in both human advancement and economic improvement (Lerner, 2001).
The problem traces its root right before the 19th century where most societies did not give prominence to the girl child. Right from the beginning of time and civilization, the boy child was the most important child to a family, for instance, the boy child was the appropriate heir of the family wealth and even leadership. The girl child was just there as a worker, and when they mature, they get married, and their main work gives birth to children, take care of them and play house wife. It was not until the 19th century that women movements were developed to give women equal rights as those of men. Some of the issues that women have been fighting for included the right to vote, right to own property and right to education. Most of the problems that women face are very unethical and must be addressed globally.
Many theories have been developed to support the quest for women and in the long run, gender equality and they include object relations theory, hegemonic masculinity, queer theory, standpoint theory and black feminist thought among many others (Dorothy, 2006).

All key elements of the assignment are covered in a substantive way. · The proposal essay is 350 to 700 words in length. · The proposal essay includes the following · Identification and short description of the controversy the student has chosen · Discussion of the political and ethical theories that are in evidence in the controversy · Proposed solution to the controversy, as the student presently understands it · Proposed evaluation of the solution · At least 2 peer reviewed resources cited |
I like that you’ve got a good topic for philosophical analysis here. You’ve clearly given some thought to the political and ethical theories involved in this controversy and have already begun working on a proposed solution. As you go forward, make sure that you incorporate evidence from the primary sources (that is, quotes from the primary philosophers - not from works about the philosophers) in your essay. Avoid history and “background,” too, and stick with the philosophy here. Good luck as you continue with your revisions!
