Hello Prof. and class, The eligibility for the Texas workforce commission rules are based on past wages, job separation and ongoing eligibility requirements. You have to meet varies requirements to qualify. Past wages are used to determine what you will be paid in unemployment. To be eligible for benefits you must be unemployed at no fault of your own. You cannot quit and get benefits. The benefits are between $64 and $465 weekly benefits mount. Benefits are paid by calculating your weekly benefits amount dividing you base period quarter with the highest wages by 25 and round to the nearest dollar. Your benefit year begins on Sunday of the week in which you applied for benefits and remains in effect for 52 weeks.
