U.S. and Chinese Negotiations over Climate Change Reformation Strategies

The current greenhouse industrial pollution is a trending social challenge that has raised tensions in the international arena over the immediate measures to be undertaken in order to reduce the percentage of carbon emission in the world atmosphere in the near future. The key negotiators comprise of the two World’s most industrialized economies and the biggest greenhouse polluters, that is, United States and China. The two nations have made declarations towards instilling corrective measures within their industrial environs soot that is expected to be followed by every nation in the world with a collective aim of curbing the levels of carbon emissions to the atmosphere. Global warming is the current climatic threat to the world today which has been associated with serious predicaments such as cancer which is among the world deadliest infections which has led to increased massive loss of lives. Therefore, this paper will elaborate on the current measures that are being undertaken by the two economic giants in efforts to regulate the level of carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

Yesterday, that is, on 15th September 2015, US president Barrack Obama convened with the Chinese government officials at Los Angeles in attempts to revive and discuss the issue (DAVENPORT, 2015).  The key agenda of the meeting was to evaluate various strategies that the respective states, counties and provinces are deploying in attempts to combat the increased global warming effects resulting from increased air pollution from increased industrial practices. One of the major strategies evaluated was the ‘cap and trade’ strategy deployed in California which involves setting up of limits allowable for individual companies to pollute granted through buying and selling of pollution permits. Additionally, the meeting challenged the two economic giants to meet the pledges they made in the lasts year November United Nations Summit to reduce their carbon emissions up to 25 percent by 2025 in US and 2030 in China through enacting strict policies which will help eradicate massive pollution by forcing the industries to invent and deploy suitable technologies for environmental friendly production processes.

In conclusion, a lot of criticism has been encountered especially from the Republican Party which regards the US president attempt to take the environmental challenge as an advantage to their economic competitor, the Chinese who are doing nothing towards curbing the levels of gas emissions. Global warming is an economic threat and should be taken seriously by every developed and developing nation through deployment of pollution measures which should be closely monitored and adhered to.
