1) Problem: Age discrimination between manager and employees. Manager is younger than the employees and doesn’t get the respect from them.
Moreover, I will make sure my employees feel appreciated and rewarded once we meet the companies goals.
b. An analysis of the factors contributing to the problem or opportunity should include answers to questions like:
i. It affects the entire organization because work is not getting completed which also affects clients as well. Not to mention, a hostile work environment is hard to focus and put your best foot forward.
ii. It impacts the business and employees as a whole. If employees are not becoming team players, are coming in late, and leaving heavy workloads for other employees. When employees are not finishing up their duties by the deadlines given, it creates more problems for the rest of the employees since it leaves them to finish the rest of the workload. It brings down the morale of the other employees.
iii. The problem arose when I was first hired on as manager about one month ago.
2) Solution: how will your proposal solve the problem or allow the company to take advantage of the opportunity?
a. By warning employees of their actions, it will allow them to know how serious it is to follow company guidelines or they will be reprimanded for their actions and behavior. Also, by rewarding employees for company goals, it gives incentive for employees to work hard and be on their best behavior.
b. I believe this is the best solution because there is hardly any cost involved and it encourages employees to get the job done in a timely manner if they want to be rewarded. (Compare that solution to other solutions that may be less favorable and explain why)
c. Consider objections and provide support for your solution before these objections are voiced/considered. (Maybe not wanting people to be terminated or pay for costs of rewards)
d. Who needs to be involved in the solution? (The manger and employees… The entire team needs to be involved because it’s pulling them apart)
e. How will your solution make the problem you identified better, or what are the resulting benefits? (this should be specific and measurable and address the analysis in your problem statement)
f. Why must the solution be implemented now? The solution must be implemented now because it is affecting the business by creating a hostile work environment, which is allowing jobs to not become completed.
3) The plan:
a. Detail the plan of action or implementation -
b. Set a schedule with specific deadlines. – (Weekly deadlines or hourly deadlines)
c. What resources will you need? Where will they come from? – Resources will come from a budget set by management.
d. Review the challenges that must be overcome to implement this plan and make suggestions for overcoming them. Overcoming the challenges would be to show higher up that purchasing items for incentives would be cheaper than having a high turnover of employees and training on new team members.
e. Suggest a control method for evaluating the success of the plan. (How will you measure success?) Seeing improvement with employee morale and team camaraderie as well as work and projects completed on time.
4) Conclusion:
a. Conclude to why implementing my solution will be good for the company.
b. End with a call to action
