Composition Assistance - Topic Gun Control
Thesis
Guns should be regulated on their use.
Explanation
Guns are gadgets that are used by law enforcers and at times used by the law breakers for various reasons. In the United States of America, there are certain laws and policies that are designed and put in place for the aim of regulating the making, sale, handover, custody, modification, or use of the firearms. Various rules and regulations are used differently in the different parts of the world to control such firearms with United Kingdom having fewer restrictions concerning the use of firearms compared to the United States of America which have very strict rules controlling the use of firearms. Firearms can be classified into handguns, rifles and shot guns which are being used in today’s world for various reasons. In the classification of guns, rifles and shotguns are considered to be long guns. There are arguments that the widespread ownership and use of firearms has resulted to increased cases of gun-related crime, homicide, and suicide (Lott, 2010). Other people oppose this argument and claim that gun control does not decrease gun-related grievances, manslaughter, or suicide. Opponents have it that certain regulations violate individual liberties when it comes to the gun use hence they should be allowed to be used.
Sub points
There are members of the society who claim that gun control should be fully imposed for it has several advantages to the members of the community. There are some of the arguments that gun control will actually reduce the gun deaths and all other injuries associated with gun use. According to the research done back in the between years 1999 to 2013, it showed that about 464,033 total gun deaths. The classification of these total deaths had resulted from various aspects involving the gun use. The deaths about 270,237 were from suicides (58.2% of total deaths); 174,773 homicides (37.7%); and 9,983 unintentional deaths (2.2%) which amounted to high rates of mortality rates. It is documented that the firearms makes the 12th leading cause of all deaths and if this gun use could be controlled can lead to the reduced causes of death via this method. The control of the gun use both in the United States of America and the whole world at large will actually reduce the entire death rates of members of the society.
The gun control in the United States of America and the whole world at large will lead to reduced cases of violence. Violence involving the use of guns may be used by the law breakers to rob the members of the society. Robbery with violence is likely to reduce its occurrences in the society when the government will restrict the use of firearms (Spitzer, 2008). Less people are likely to be harmed or injured as a result of the use of firearms during certain encounters for dialogue will be likely to be used method to solve such disputes as compared to the use of firearms. Violence is promoted and encouraged by the use of the firearms from the members of the community. If the government or the bodies responsible would control and curb the use of firearms it will automatically reduce the entire cases that are reported to have been committed via their use. Violence in the society is likely to be executed on the weak that is the old, young and the disabled who are unable to defend themselves. Violence contributed by the firearms is likely to be in reduced rates when the government will involve the use of rules and regulations to control its use.
Gun control will result into reduced cases of senseless accidents which involve the children and guns as a result of carelessness from adults. When adults own guns, their kids usually watch them as they use the and at times the parents or adults leave these guns and the children may be tempted to use. Since the children don’t know how to use guns although some may know, they take the fire arms belonging to their parents and then start playing with them. In the process of playing with guns, some accidents to occur which makes the children fire these guns resulting to careless death and injuries to the unwanted parties. If the government regulates the use of fire arms, it will reduce all cases of senseless accidents from children due to the adult negligence and careless. The use of gun control law will ensure that families and children are protected from the injuries and disasters that occur and this will reduce the total loss of lives as a result of senseless accidents from children due to the adult negligence and careless.
The regulation and control of the firearms will result to peaceful and harmonious living in the community which is contained in the constitution. The Second Amendment of the United States of America, since the year 1791, it has been against the use of guns without regulating hence controlling gun use it’s legal and should be followed. The forbidding the transfer of guns to Catholics, slaves, indentured domestics, and Native Americans were all working towards regulating the use of fire arms for it has several benefits (Goss, 2010). The Second Amendment of the United States of America bans the use firearms without any good reasons and this call for the controlled use of guns for one will be fulfilling the law and living as per constitution. Regulating the gun use is beneficial for it involves fulfilling and living assist needed in the constitution.
Controlled gun use means that there are responsible uses of firearms by those who are only licensed to be using them hence there will be peaceful living in the community (Andrés & Hempstead, 2011). The government has only few licensed gun users who are entitled to using of firearms in various jobs they do or according to the special cases which them to be licensed fire arms owners. This will lead to total responsibility of those who use their guns and this will reflect by having educed cases of gun-related grievances, manslaughter, careless gun use and suicide among others.
Objections
There are some of the objections which are and work against the licensing and the lack of government to control gun use. There are opposing views which argue that guns should not be regulated or controlled on how they will be used. The government and the responsible bodies should not regulate any form of firearms they should be left to the members of the society to use them as they wish.
Guns use should not be controlled for they are meant to act as sense of security. Giving the members of the community the right to own firearms will be of great help to them since it will be the source of security and safety (Squires, 2012). The simple calculus of the gun owner is that their security is assured since they can fight and counteract with those who might attack them. For example, business people may be encountered by thieves who have guns so for their safety they can use their guns to counter them for their safety and defense of their commodities and lives. By the government allowing the members of the society to own guns will help in ensuring that security is restored back in the society.
The government should allow society members to own a gun since gun control does not deter criminal activities but ownership deters criminal activities. The level of crime in the world can be controlled those legal owners of firearms for one will have to act responsibly for he or she knowns one day he can give account of the firearms as compared to when the government refuses to legalize gun use and they will be used nay how for no one is responsible for firearms which is not their legally. Government should allow people to own guns for when they have ownership of them they are able to deter crime.
When the government does not actually control the use of guns, there are decreased chances of firearms falling into hands of unauthorized persons (Burger, 2002). . When many people have fire arms which are regulated, the cases or chances of guns falling into the hands of children and causing careless accidents are likely to reduce and this will decrease deaths.
Reply to objections
The government should always regulate and control the use of guns despite the advantages associated with the unregulated use of firearms. Guns will always remain to be weapons of mass deaths and this causes losses of many people life’s both intentional and accidental hence their use or handling should be regulated.
Conclusions
In conclusions, guns are very dangerous and they need care when one is handling them. In some countries guns can be legalized and in other countries their use is banned. Guns should be controlled of their use for wen left to the members of the society they can be used against the rules and regulations of the country hence cause many deaths.
