This assignment is designed to test your ability a) to conduct research on the theme of ONE of the three essays assigned, b) to integrate your research findings with your own ideas, and c) to document your sources in the required APA style. You need to follow these instructions:

1. Based on your research findings, write a 500 to 600 word informative essay which takes into account the author’s handling of the topic, but also features other writers’ views on the topic as they finally shape your understanding of the topic.

2. Quote (cite) from at least THREE different sources in your essay in which you include a direct quotation and/ or a paraphrased quotation and/ or a summarized quotation. Sources for your quotations must be documented using APA in-text citations.

3. Prepare a title page with appropriate information and in APA format.

4. Prepare a references page: The sources used in your research must be correctly listed (APA) and include the primary source, Essay essentials with readings plus 3 secondary sources.

Your essay must have a clearly stated thesis in the first paragraph that directs and organizes the development of the essay, coherent major and minor supporting details in the body paragraphs, and an appropriate introduction and conclusion. Please underline your thesis and don’t forget to give your essay an appropriate title. Proofread your essay and correct any errors in organization, logic, expression, grammar and spelling.

You are encouraged to use an outline, your textbook, and an English-English paper dictionary in addition to your research notes. There is NO sharing of materials as this is an independent project. Please refer to the rubric for the marking scheme of the essay.
