Problem Statement

The issue I am aiming to solve in my proposal is the amount of patients that are seen in a day at Family Healthcare Associates, Inc. It is owned by 2 doctors, Michael Muscari, and Anthony Flaim. The clinic sees upwards of 75 patients in a day from 8:30-5:00, all by Physician Assistants- which is not the way the clinic is supposed to be run. This poses a problem to each patient that goes there because they are not taking care of you the way a doctor should. They, the Physician’s Assistants, rush you through, only seeing you for what is currently wrong, never remember what medications you are currently taking, and don’t have the information in front of them, and you never see a an actual doctor, just the physician assistants.

My potential solution to these problems would be to do a total overhaul of how the clinic is run. I would cut down the number of patients seen per day so that the PA’s and Doctors can better focus on taking good care of the ones they do see. I would have the PA’s see them first and do the initial assessment, and then one of the doctors do the final assessment. I would have them get to know the patient, do full exams, and treat them as if they truly care about making sure this patient is in the best health possible.
