My ability is that I am good at photography and utilizing Adobe Photoshop. I feel satisfaction when taking pictures or making something in Photoshop for someone. I love using my skills to help other people.

The main category that my ability falls under is cognitive ability. The first type is using reasoning when taking and editing photos. Specifically I use a lot of originality in the work that I produce. First I have to decide what I want to take a picture of. Then I need to decide how I want to edit it to make it stand out. I used the most originality when creating the header and footer for my company’s job advertisement. They told me what they wanted and I had come up with original ideas to create them. Developing new ideas takes a lot of time but it is definitely worth it.  The second type of cognitive ability I use is spatial. Before and after taking pictures I have to use a lot of visualization. Photoshop requires the use of visualization. I have to ask myself, how will this look if I move the text to the right or left? I am constantly changing things around after visualizing them to make it perfect. The last ability I use is a little bit of physical ability and the type is sensory. I use visual color discrimination when editing pictures in Photoshop. The example I used is deciding if I should keep it in color or change it to black and white. I can also tell if I need to play with the color balance to make them darker or lighter.

I feel very useful and productive when using my photography abilities. All of the projects I do take a lot of time, but I always feel satisfied after. The feedback I get from my work makes it all worth it.

I have already used my photography skills at the internship I worked for this past summer. They did not have a photographer or a graphic designer. I allowed them to use me for my abilities for multiple projects in their organization. I did more than what was on the job description. When they found out about my ability, they immediately had me do more tasks than the other interns, so I became much more valuable to them. These cognitive skills that I have developed allowed me to be more creative and original at my internship.
