Instructions
You will begin this Assignment in Unit 3. It is not due until the end of Unit 4.
This week you learned about fundamentals of the databases, electronic healthcare information systems, data sets and data standards. One way to learn something is to teach that concept to someone else. For this Assignment, you will evaluate and justify the use of database technologies in health care by creating a Microsoft PowerPoint® presentation. The presentation will highlight different areas of the chapter as if you were going to be teaching this to new HIT students coming into your facility. You will present this PowerPoint in a training session for new HIT students. You are to have a minimum of 30–35 slides. Please utilize the information from Chapter 4 (Pages 139–159), Chapter 14 (Pages 879–903), and all of Chapter 15. Please include the following topics in your presentation:
Database architecture and design Data dictionaries, data modeling, data mining, and data warehouses Characteristics of data quality and data integrity Categories of electronic health care information applications Overview of Information Resources Management Types of data sets and their purpose
