paper 1
Your Vision as a Practitioner-Scholar. I hope that you have already been thinking and preparing for this. Here are some hints.
Make sure that your assignment includes all of the required components listed in the grading rubric. This includes a definition of the practitioner-scholar model and direct application of the model to your vision and goals (name it when you use it, please; don’t just assume that I can tell that you are discussing it). The point of the assignment is to discuss how the model applies to your vision and goals, and not to just discuss your vision and goals. You must mention the model throughout your assignment. This means defining what it is (assuming that the reader does not know), citing it in APA style, and discussing the model and how it applies in every section. The model should also be part of the thesis statement in your introduction. A good place to define the model is in the introduction.
You must use the specific headings from the template throughout your assignment and in APA format (Abstract, Introduction, Vision, Goals, and Conclusion). The assignment should not be just an essay with no headings. You can find the template in Unit 3 under the Resources section. It is all set up for you in APA format to add your material.
Proofread and edit your work for content, basic sentence structure and grammar. Please ensure that you have not made any common writing errors. The grading rubric lists this as a category.
Make sure that your work is in APA format and style. You should write your assignment in the template that is already set up for you or at least copy it. Please do not include a table of contents. The table of contents was eliminated; however, it still may be listed in the assignment.
You must have at least two or three APA style citations and references in your assignment (a good rule is one citation/reference for each page of text). If APA style is new for you, I suggest mirroring a similar reference from the Publication Manual (American Psychological Association, 2010) or the Purdue Online Writing Lab (Purdue University, 1995-2014). The sixth edition of the Publication Manual made many significant changes. If you have not used it in many years, please learn about the changes made in APA style. For example, we no longer use the date of retrieval for electronic sources.
One of the citations of your assignment should be a citation and reference for the practitioner-scholar/scholar-practitioner model (such as the McClintock reading). If you do not know how to cite the McClintock reading, please look in the syllabus at the list of readings. It is there and written in (almost) APA style. You just need to fix it up a little.
I recommend that you submit your work to Smarthinking, allowing enough time to incorporate feedback into the final version for your submission (three days is recommended).
Submit your final document as a Microsoft Word document attachment in the Unit 3 link to the assignment. Check to be sure that your document is attached properly in the correct format. Make sure that you click the “Submit” button.
