Project Proposal

For the purpose of this paper I am going to be selecting a project that my current company, Watkins Environmental, Inc. can benefit from.

Description of the project

The project I am proposing is to successfully establish a residential sales division of the company while shifting the job positions and duties of the existing office personnel. Watkins Environmental Inc is a certified small business that specializes in hazardous materials remediation. The majority of the work is removing asbestos, lead and mold from both commercial and residential properties with a lot of the work coming from the military bases and schools when they are modernizing campuses. This company also has a demolition department, but chooses to focus the majority of its talent within this specialized sector. Being that the majority of the jobs come from commercial properties, residential calls make up about 25% of the current revenue. Knowing the ins and out of this company I know there is a great opportunity to expand the residential sales, but direct marketing and sales geared towards these types of clients are needed as well as dedicated project manager/estimator to focus solely on this area. Thus, this project will focus on hiring an estimator that will only bid on residential work and will also focus on marketing to construction companies that do home remodels. In addition to hiring a new estimator, this project will move the existing position of office manager into the project manager for both the residential and commercial jobs while having the receptionist take on more of the office managing duties.

Stakeholders

This project is going to affect all levels of management at this company. The stakeholders in this project are going to be the owners of the company, the estimators, office manager and receptionist, along with the Operations Manager. This project will affect the owners because they will be spending needed resources to hire a new employee and also increase the non-existent marketing budget. It will affect the estimators because it will free them up of anything residential related to focus on their areas of expertise. This project will affect the office manger and the receptionist the greatest as they both will be adding a vastly different job aspects to their current job description and in regards to the office manager she will be entering an entirely new position.
