Purpose of Assignment
This assignment is the beginning of an ongoing project plan that you will build on throughout the
duration of this course. The Project Plan Part 1 establishes the basis for your individual project.
You must understand the most appropriate methodology used to manage the project. In addition,
you will define the scope and schedule for the project plan. These important phases of the project
management process help reaffirm the purpose and need for the project.
You will begin to use the approved project management template as a guide to developing your
plan.

Describes methodology (tools, techniques,
processes, etc.) used to manage the project. This
could include a discussion of how you will initiate,
plan, execute, monitor/control, and close the project
using the tools/techniques described in your reading
assignments or the methodology described in the
PMBOK.
Justifies the creation of project scope by
providing resources found (what resources did you
find online or in the University library that justify
the scope of this project).
Outlines proposed project phases (Provide a
table that lists the phases of the project and provides
a general description of each phase - think in general
terms here, but provide a duration, preferably a start
and finish date for each phase).
Scope is clear and includes the following:
Requirements for the project (what are the
requirements of the project - you will use these
requirements to measure the projects progress and
performance - was the project a success as defined
by the project requirements).
Definition of project activities (define the
activities that make up the project work. This is
done by looking at the scope and determining what
activities need to be accomplished to produce the
scope of the project).
Schedule has been planned out appropriately
and includes the following:
Primary activity duration estimate
Sequences the primary activities
Work Breakdown Structure has been
developed and tasks are defined - your WBS can be
in a hierarchical format or outline, but it must show
the project work in more detail at every level until
the work is decomposed to the work package level
for estimating cost and duration and assigning
resources.
Human resource requirements
Other resources required for the
project (equipment and/or material)
Organization / Development
