Assessment Task 1

Workplace Health & Safety Management System – WHSMS

In this assessment you will be putting together the requirements for an effective WHSMS. Namely;

· what legislation the organisation needs to comply with

· the personnel required and what responsibilities they have

· what financial budget needs to be allocated to establish and maintain the WHSMS

Part A:

In this assessment you are required to complete a WHS Hierarchy for one of the following;

· Home construction business

· Car crash repair business

· Dentist practice

· Veterinary business

You need to list all the relevant information for each section of the hierarchy and provide an example of each.

Note:

Policies and procedures are developed at the business level, so you need to think about this and come up with ideas as to what policies and procedures are needed to support other aspects of the hierarchy

For each position you now need to develop a person specification which outlines the key qualifications and responsibilities for that role.

Person Specification

Detailed below are the types of qualifications, experience, skills and knowledge which are required.

The Essential column shows the minimum essential requirements for the post.

The Desirable column shows additional attributes which would enable the applicant to perform the role more effectively with little or no training. They are not essential, but may be used to distinguish between applicants.

The Category column indicates the method of how you would verify the applicant’s qualifications etc.

A = Application form C = Certificate

T = Test I = Interview
