In order to receive credit for this competency test, you must submit the completed competency test to the online site (under “Competency Tests”, click on the link for this competency test itself, upload your document, and hit the “submit” button) by the start of your on class on 10/14/2015. Late assignments will not be accepted for course credit, but will be evaluated for learning purposes. This is an individual (not a group) assignment. Successful completion of this competency test gives you the opportunity to demonstrate the excel graphing competency toward your class grade.

Before completing this assignment, please read the “Problem Background” portion of CT: Excel Modeling (1). The scenario considered for the graph you’ll create for this competency test (Excel Graphing) is the same as that described in CT: Excel Modeling (1).
A file is posted on blackboard along with this competency test that data describing the altitude of the instructor and the altitude of the student as a function of time. Note that this data file intentionally assumes different starting conditions than are provided for the model you are to build for CT: Excel Modeling (1), so this graph is intentionally not to serve as a solution check for CT: Excel Modeling (1). The data file is titled “CT_ExcelGraphing_Data.xlsx”.
Use the data in CT_ExcelGraphing_Data.xlsx to create an XY scatter graph showing the trajectories of both the student and the instructor during free-fall and drift until both reach the ground. The graph should have two lines, one for the instructor and one for the student. On the graph, the x-axis should display time (seconds), and the y axis should display altitude (feet). In order to demonstrate the competency, the graph must have a title and both of the axes labeled with appropriate units.
When you have the graph created in Excel, save the file with the name
“CT_ExcelGraphing_YourLastName.xlsx,”and then upload the file to the course blackboard site.
