A snowy day in Georgia

By Ashley Wilson

This photo is an extreme close up of a beautiful snowy day in Georgia. The setting for this photograph was taken in my neighborhood during the time of the snow storm.

How would you use design features to create balance in the composition of your photograph?

Before taking the photo I thought out how I wanted the image to look. I was not thinking perfect because I knew this image would be for my memories only. What I notice about my image is that it seems to be lacking balance. The photo is leading more to the left slide where I was able to shoot majority all the house on the left, whereas I am wondering about the house on the right. The goal was to have a view of all houses on my block. One thing I did not consider was the positioning of my subject in terms of the height and weight of the photo. In order to create a photo color plays a big role in your photograph. My theme was Winter. Winter is the least colorful time of the year, so when I shot this photo I shot in color, but it came out black& white. I tried adding filters to the photo, and it gave it a dull look.

Do I feel that I achieve my goal? No, It does not snow very often in Georgia so creating this image meant the world to me. I wish I had try different angles to get my hold neighborhood. But overall I still have a beautiful photo to look at. Next time I take a photo I would consider the position of my subject. I would also keep in mind the height and the weight of the image that I am trying to create. Another thing I would do different is take multiple amount of photos. Try different angles and position my camera to target everything I want in the photo.
